So, I'm thinking about rolling for single UVs for my arsenal contents. That, and I'm considering outright purchases of "stuff" with UVs at the AH. Is there a previous forum post that I can link to that will list the rule of thumb for recognizing desirable UVs? My apologies in advance if the question is too vague, but my prior perusing of forum posts leads me to believe that it's a tough crowd out there and you folks like it straight and to the point without becoming TL/DR. Carry on!
UVs and me.

I've got a Voltech alchemer
I've got a Voltech alchemer with a VS Construct High UV and no one has answered my price check thread. Are you sure that's a good UV for guns?

Well with elemental guns you
Well with elemental guns you get extra damage against constructs anyway, so it's not so much of an issue. You wouldn't really want increased attack speed or charge time reductions on an Alchemer because the best way to fire them is shoot-pause-shoot and the charge isn't worth it anyway. So that pretty much leaves damage bonuses.
Construct is a nice one to have actually. I guess slimes would be the best on the basis that it doesn't hit them for super-effective damage and they don't dodge like fiends do.
It should mostly be a mix of common sense and what you'd like to use the weapon for. However, here are a couple of general rules for the 'best' UVs
Swords: Attack Speed Increase
Guns: Damage Boosts to slimes/constructs/undead (things you'd be shooting at a lot, basically)
Bombs: Charge Time Reduction
Shields and armour: Defense increases that differ to those the armour provides i.e. Elemental Defense on a Wolver Coat, Shadow Defense on a Nameless Poncho etc.
There are exceptions and it depends somewhat on your playstyle (if you use a Calibur for example, Charge Time Reduction or a damage bonus vs. fiends is handy), but there's some things to think about.
