My suggestion for the Arena is that perhaps King Krogmo got bored of watching the knights fight eachother so he decided to bring in different compition. King Krogmo has brought different beasts (and by beasts I mean any type of enemy) from the Clockworks so the knights can fight them. The point of this would be for players to be able to fight any enemy that they have already killed in the Clockworks. It could also have a feature of players being able to choose how many of each enemy they want to fight at a time. The only thing they could not fight would be bosses because the King would not be able to get those to his arena.

I do understand that this wouldn't be a addition right away, but i would like everyone to consited this. I think that it would be a fun addition.

I have to agree with IronBrofist.
If I want to fight a monster, I go to Clockworks.

Let Krogmo's 'arenas' (or, the Colloseum or whatever it'll be) be reserved for PVP.

Save the arena for PvP

The arena was made for PvP. Let it stay that way.

On the other hand, maybe this could be some sort of training facility. An extension to the Training Hall or guild hall perhaps? No consequences or prize, but with an indication of how much 'ce' spent reviving and total damage taken, plus using all battle factors like time, damage taken/received, ce spent and stuff to give a combat score? No ce will actually be spent, it'll just tell you how much you would be using if it were real.

The 'see how many waves you can last' idea sounds pretty solid. Or it could even evolve into a 'how many monsters can you defeat before you die' thing. And just to up the difficulty a bit, there are health regens available in any way or form, and you can't be revived by other players (only through the revive queue or paying Energy).
