I think it prevents some

I think it prevents some wolvers from spawning.

it

makes it so that later in the game wolvers spawn as small wolves.

Nope, we tested that, wolvers

Nope, we tested that, wolvers can spawn both ways no matter if the button is pressed or not.

Also the button does not "open the door in case someone gets locked out" (that was our second guess, but after we managed to lock someone out to press the button, the door stayed closed).

So, my guess would be: It does nothing. We tried a lot of things with that button... the only way to squeeze some fun out of it seems to be: waiting until "the new guy" steps on it and then screaming at him for "activating hard mode OMG we're so gonna die now because of you!!!!" xD

The button sends a signal to

The button sends a signal to Gremlin fortresses around the clockworks to kill a small kitten brutally.

Every time you push that button, a Kat is born.

I'm pretty sure it was just

I'm pretty sure it was just put there to open the gate before it was decided to merely have it always open.

The gate you're standing on.

The gate that's already open. But would have been opened by that button.

They say this button spawn

They say this button spawns more Slag Guards.

Never been there, though, so can't say if it's true or not :D

Hm

Maybe it's some sort of social experiment.

My sample size is inadequately small, but I disagree regardless!

@ Ufna

Are you sure about that? Sure, wolvers WILL spawn regardless of whether you press the button, but in my experience, the only time an ALPHA wolver spawned at the end of the following (arena-ish) battle was when my party refused to press the button for experimental purposes. I've never seen an Alpha wolver in FSC before or since that specific run.

@Glowshadow

In all of the FSC runs I've made with a group we have pushed the button and I have never seen an Alpha. The last run I did as solo, though, I did not and I still did not see an Alpha.

I'm doing it for the lulz, Marc!

If the game would allow us to zoom in, we actually would be able to read a very tiny label that explains everything and anything about this button...

..."Enable Mimiron Hard Mode".

Discuss. (...nah, please don't!)

We went trough there without

We went trough there without pressing the button a lot of times and there's rarely ever alpha wolvers. Also I'm pretty sure we had alpha wolvers at least once with the button pressed (that one time was sort of memorable, because we had a discussion earlier about whether to leave the button alone & see if alpha wolvers spawn... and someone stepped on the button ending this discussion). But I'll ask the other members of the team again if they remember it the same way, just to be extra sure ;)

There is also a mysterious

There is also a mysterious button in another level where it is behind a energy gate with a few boxes, there is only 2 boxes and a button so I never spend 3 energy to even see what that button does, yet I can still complete the level without pressing that button... I cant remember what that depth is called but it has retrodes and skuttlebots...

@Shires Buttons behind energy
