Just how strong ARE defensive UVs?

Recently I was rolling UVs for my armor. On my third try I managed to get UV Elemental Resist High on my Nameless Poncho.

Now Nameless gear already has a fairly high elemental defense value. I'm wondering how much of a bonus an elemental UV will actually have on the piece. Naturally there isn't any data on the wiki regarding this, and I haven't seen anything regarding the effect of defensive UVs on the forums yet.

Does anybody know? More importantly, would any other gunslingers out there be willing to help me test how effective this will be?

That thread was studying about UVs on gear without a native resist to the UV gained. I'm asking about stacking UVs and diminishing returns. Nameless gear already has a high native elemental defense value. I'm wondering if keep an elemental high UV is worth it on that particular gear.

To quote the exact thread you posted:

"Thanks a bunch for this!

I wonder what happens if you have armor with natural elemental defense, plus elemental UVs."

Actually, that thread was

Actually, that thread was about damage resist UV's in general, but primarily in comparing them against naturally-occuring defenses.

Regardless, I'd imagine a Nameless Poncho with Elemental : High would give you the same amount of elemental resist as two pieces of Nameless.

I'd also surmise that, much like status resists, anything above 3x bonuses would be a waste.

(status resist innate on gear is medium, so vog + vog + medium fire = max resist)

Likewise, since High resist = innate defense, I'd say it would likely cap at name + name + high, making any additional elemental defense largely useless.

We can't just assume...

It's an interesting assumption, but untested. It's pretty well-known that bars are useless on defense and damage values, so the only way to check would be for me to find somebody with a standard namless poncho (with identical hats) and let ourselves get hit by gun puppies to compare how much we take.

Makes me wonder if there is anyone who'd be willing to help test it out... to enhance our knowledge of UV resists... naturally.

I have the nameless set with no UV's. If you actually wanted to do it for science I'd be game, IGN is the same.
((well sleep resist Med but that's just a funny joke))

I'm hopeful there will

I'm hopeful there will eventually be a "duel" pvp function where we can test these things more rigorously.
