Jelly King ideal gear? Help me

I seem to be virtually incapable of beating the JK with the gear that I have, so I looked through the wiki and I think that I found the ideal loadout:
Sword: Acheron, Dread Venom Striker or Gran Faust
Gun: Umbra Driver
Armor: Skolver Suit
Helm: Skolver Cap
Bomb: Graviton Vortex
Shield: Aegis
Can somebody determine whether this is a good set? If you have any suggestions, just post them. If you are good at the JK, your loadout is appreciated also.
I agree with Yoshi.
I used to solo JK using the following.
Vile Striker
Wolver Cap
Wolvat Coat
Twisted Targe
2~3 poison vials
2~3 Curse vials
3 fire vials
3 health pots
If you're going with just weapons, ideally you have someone else with you.
It seems the combination of curse and poison is the ideal thing to have for RJ.
In fact, if you manage to get some curse vials and are packing a vile striker, you should be good to go.
Your shield will be useless, because if you're shielding, you're not attacking Royal Jelly and he is probably sucking up minions, regenerating. Unless of course you're clever and have a twisted targe or dark thorn shield with you.
The damage bonus should help a bit especially with a vile striker considering how often it hits.
I've never solo'd him, I use a fireburst brandish charged up to set him on fire from the start, and then wail on him with my Faust. Whenn he's spinning and I need to push jellies out of the way without risking a shield break, I switch to the brandish and push my way through, then atrack with faust again.
At all times I make sure I'm with someone that has vile striker. Fortunately I have two friends that do, so one is always with me when I'm there.
Works like a charm. Sometimes I'll hit him with vials just to get a kick at all the status effects that can be landed on him in the fight. I prefer status weapons as opposed to status vials though. I feel they're too slow to use.
Hope this helps!
Personally, i have acheron and dread venom, these 2 swords are enough to solo jk.
A gun and/or a bomb is not needed for the boss fight, but a bomb could help such as ash of agni, or shivermist, a gun has no use for the boss fight, the minions will get in the way of your shots during the boss fight.
.
In a party however, i only use dread venom, even if i have vials in my inventory, just for the endless assault.
When youre in a party or even solo, the 2 levels before the actual boss usually almost always gives enough pills for atleast 2 of the 4 people in your party to each have 3 assuming its a 4 person run.
At the actual boss, all you have to do is get 1 person to stand next to the blue box thingie that destroys all the boxes that are linked to it and the other 3 to be on the party button. As soon as that 1 person breaks the box, run back to the party button which will spawn the boss and all its minions. Immediately, the whole party should run around the mobs in front of the boss, and straight towards jk. If the whole team attacks jk with out stop, in 10seconds or so, the jk will turn red and do its spinning move, that means, its very weakened and is very close to death. Then just run away and dont kill any mobs, just bump them away and wait until JK calms down, then the whole party should attack it again, it'll die in no time.
With that in mind, most people who have never beaten JK is because they are scared to loose a couple of Pips of health. When doing JK, in my opinion, you shouldnt be scared to loose some health cause you want to beat it, not drag out the time of your death. Besides, after JK starts doing its first spinning attack, if the whole party attacked it with out stop, taking damage from the minions but still attacking until it turns red, the whole party will have probably around 8-12 pips of health, once again, assuming everyone has atleast an 8 vitapod.
To summarize, just go for the boss, dont be scared, and keep attacking. Put in different terms, gang bang JK, run, then do it again.
Um I'm sorry but if you need those weapons and armors to beat Jelly King then there's a bigger problem at work here. Generally Piercing defense is more used for Jelly King since the levels before him are full of Piercing attacks. As far as I know Jelly King himself can only do Normal damage but that doesn't stop the minions from attacking with piercing. The Barbarous Thorn Shield would be more worth it than the Aegis since they have similar stats but you get a sword bonus from the former.
While Shadow does do extra damage, it doesn't do that much extra damage just as piercing doesn't do that much less damage to the Jelly King. The Venom Striker is good but having 3 Poison Vials will do just as well. Guns aren't all that helpful against the Jelly King, I only ever use one to apply status which the Umbra Driver can't do. In reality a Calibur will do just fine against the Jelly King.
To beat Jelly King you just need to know its attack pattern so that you can slash at him while shielding when he's about to attack. Curse, Poison, and Fire vials are very helpful against him. Poison stops him from healing, Curse damages him while he attacks (helpful during the berserk spinning stage of the fight), and Fire helps tack on extra damage. When the Jelly King goes pink and starts spinning he's invincible so you'll only want to run away. When he's done, Curse him and hit him one or two times before shielding again since he'll start to spin more. If you have a Calibur its often good to follow the King as he's spinning while charging your sword so that you can unleash very heavy amounts of damage on him when he finishes spinning.
Forgot my loadout. I solo'd Jelly King using 3 Poison Vials, 3 Fire Vials, 3 Curse Vials, and 3 Health Pills.
2* Cobalt Helm
3* Chroma Suit
3* Twisted Targe
3* Arc Razor
