Does shield mitigate active status damage?

ok, I'm tempted to say the answer is probably "no", but I noticed (while on fire) that if I put up my shield (again, WHILE on fire), it flashes with every tick and I hear the fizzle of the shield taking damage, as if I were blocking a Red Rover or Scorcher.
To confirm, I AM still taking damage but I haven't compared HP loss to merely letting it tick.
So does it help to put your shield up? Or is it just a quirky bug?

Don't quote me on that but from what i remember you will lower the damage from fire ticks if you have fire resistance on your shield.

There is no unfreeze damage for players, unless it comes from negative freeze resistance then i wouldn't know about that.

Curse doesn't affect shields, only Weapons and Consumable slots.

Fire : I only ever use fire resist shields (I own a Grey Owlite and a Wyvern Scale). There is no reduction in fire tick damage that I can tell in FSC. The only effect fire resist on a shield is giving you extra protection from a fire-based attack. (E.G. My Owlite shield takes virtually no damage from Red Rover and can withstand nearly six fire trap hits)
Freeze: Since when? I don't get frozen often, but when I do I always shield. If I'm left alone the unfeeze always ticks against my shield. (and if my shield gets hit, the freeze breaks)
Cuse: My bad. I can't remember the last time I got hit with curse.

So it sounds like the flashes/shieldblock sounds from the shield when taking fire or shock ticks is a bit of an oversight. For fire at any rate.
By the way, Jamini, I am almost positive that I have taken shock ticks through my shield.

Maybe your shield is broken
Maybe your shield is broken at that point... I always block during shock and never took damage as long as my shield is up. (But yeah, still get seizures...)
Poison - No effect if you shield, but poison deals no damage to you itself
Shock - Shielding stops the damage ticks, but you are still shocked
Freeze - Shielding blocks the unfreeze damage, and if you are hit while frozen and shielding you will become unfrozen.
Curse - No effect unless the curse affects your shield key, in which case the curse hurts you if you try.
Fire - Shielding does not block the damage at all as far as I can tell.
Stun - Shielding has no effect on stun, except being slower to bring up.
Sleep - N/A
