I just started using a controller to play Spiral Knights. Sure, it's not the most precise thing, but it's really fun for me. Using swords and bombs are fun and easy, but guns and vials are really hard to aim. When using a controller, the arrow that replaces your mouse cursor disappears altogether. There's no precise visual cue to tell where you're aiming.

I'm here to suggest that some sort of laser or line show us where we're aiming, similar to what they have on Dead Nation or Alien Swarm. If laser doesn't fit the art style, maybe a cartoon-y dashed line would fit better. The line itself may be semi-transparent. Maybe it can only show up when a gun is equipped or a vial is being used. Maybe it can only show up when that arrow disappears. Maybe it should be toggle-able!

It could also be used to determine a gun's range. (Just throwing that out there)

Would be pretty handy,

Would be pretty handy, definitely. I don't like it when my bullets show the hit animation and then I realize that there's no damage being done just because I actually was a few pixels off and didn't realize it. :s

I use the controller

I use the controller direction pad for both move and face. If I want to shoot in one of the eight cardinal directions, just move a bit in that direction and fire away.

For those rare times when I need to fire in a different direction, I have one of the thumbsticks set to control the mouse pointer, using the gamepad's software rather than the in-game controls. That gives me a mouse pointer that I can move wherever I want. It's not as precise as using a real mouse, but it's close enough.

U know I modified my Sk to make it more like first person shoot and that made guns for easier for controller.only I did that three times.did not work out because I cannot see what's behind me.buts guess that's point of first person shooter.get better tactics..plus it glicthes up my SK.so I'll just stick with controller in bird view

@Quizzical

I tried that (Joy2Key ftw), but personally I thought it just made it more complicated than it should be.

..and I don't think we're allowed to mod? @_@

i LOVE laser sights! SK, I don't think there's any drawbacks with this...perhaps if u wanted, you COULD put some cr or ce charge on them, or even have them as a detachable option. I DON'T CARE! JUST MAKE THEM!!!

Seeing the range your gun can

Seeing the range your gun can fire would be a very helpful addition! Maybe they can make range variants for guns to make them fire further.
