only having defenses against 3 of the 4 defense powers and only 5 or the 7? status resist. awhile back ago before the AH came into action and turned me into a casual player.
i have a miracle cloak with high UV curse resistance
rock jelly helm with low stun resistance UV
sinister skelly shield with medium normal defense
all said and done i should have showing up is...
fire
shock
curse
poison
freeze
stun
sleep
normal
piercing
shadow
elemental
being 11 total

i spent a few good hours looking through the wiki searching for that balance..
and what do i get?
normal
piercing
elemental
stun
fire
shock
curse
sleep
i only count 8 here...

what's the deal here? why cant you receive all the bonuses your equipment gives?

Maybe...

COuld it be that your equipment isn't fully heat levelled? I won't know, because I'm only a 2* newish player, but I think maybe some effects need a certain heat level to fully take effect. Like my wolver gear gives 1+ health at level 1, and it's 2+ at max level. I dunno, but could some effects counter others?

I think he is talking about the fact that he can't get armor or resistance to everything, and if that is the case the game is made that way. That's why you need to pick you gear correctly for the stratum you are about to do and have a wide viarity in the stuff you make so you can be prepaired for what ever you face.

Why have OP'd armor/helm?

Im confused...why would you need everything on 1 single armor/helm.The 5* combo Im going for is Crown of the Fallen and Valkyrie Mail.It gives me no Curse or Fire resistance,and gives me an extreme boost of poison resistance.You need the right combo to be an awesome fighter...

I think what the problem is,

I think what the problem is, is that czernobog appears to be under the impression that shields add their defenses to the general character defense. That is not the case, shield defenses are only applied when you are using your shield. It is further explained here:

Okay, if we get some more

Okay, if we get some more people to vouch for this shield thing, would you end this thread? I'm not saying that its usesless, maybe it could go in 'New Recruits' to teach people about that shield bonuses only work if the shield is raised.

Are you talking to me? I'm not the OP.

Anyway, this thread is more or less at a dead end. Perhaps if you want you could ask the devs to add the info about the shield defense to the beginning tutorial or somewhere as a "BEWARE! Shield defense only comes into play when etc etc..."

simply saying "It has its own life and defense stats" should make it pretty clear on how it works.

I'd actually prefer that it

I'd actually prefer that it say something about the shield in the actual tutorial though. It seems simpler, just put up a big sign in the players face when faced with, I don't know, a fire field? Which tells the player that his shield's effects only work when he has his shield out.

i'm a diablo2 person, so i was accustomed to getting what the equipment said you get. i just wish i knew these things before i got my equipment to 4 star status'
now i'll be looking for piercing/normal and stun/fire oriented shield. thanks for the help guys
