Hey, I was wondering. How does the scoring work in the new Krogmo game made today? I'm particularly confused that my score goes up even when I'm dead.
Scoring in Blast Network
As far as I see, you get a point for every player dying.
Excluding you.
You score double if you kill a player.
So if your mates die and kill themselves a lot, standing in a corner, not getting killed will give you a lot of points :D
Your score is the sum total of your kills plus all your opponent's deaths.
That is to say, in a three player game, if player A has 7 kills/5 deaths, player B has 3 kills/8 deaths and player C has 6 kills and 3 deaths, then:
Player A) 7 + 8 + 3 = 18
Player B) 3 + 5 + 3 = 11
Player C) 6 + 5 + 8 = 19
This feels slightly odd - if you're going to die, it's beneficial to force it to be a suicide if you can, to stop the player that trapped you from getting an extra point.
To put it in terms of scoring as the game progress:
Every time another player dies, you score 1 point. If that player died because of your bomb, you score an additional point. Likewise, whenever you die, every other player scores 1 point.
This penalizes accidental suicides, but gives benefits to intentional suicides over letting other players claim the kill.
Edit: Interestingly, my example had no suicides. I just realised the numbers add up right. Still works, though.
One thing I found odd is that in the start of the match if you suicide your score goes down 1. Later on I don't see it happening though. And yeah the scoring while dead thing didn't make much sense to me either but even if this is the case I had a match where the lead's points were 30 some more than 2nd place and I don't think they could have killed that many people.
One thing good regarding suicide though is that bombs pierce other bombs unlike in Bomberman so even if the opponent lays a bomb right in front of yours, as long as yours goes off first you'll get the kill. So its not always easy to do but its not challenging at all either.
I believe the game's actually crediting you for causing their bomb to detonate early in that case, but that's just a nitpick. The end result is the same.
Though explosions DO pass through other bombs, you can be credited for causing a chain reaction that kills a player with his own bomb.
So... we're both right. Though I don't think explosions should pass through bombs, it ruins the bomberman experience.
I believe the scoring is based on how many times you have downed your fellow knights in combat and how many times you have been downed yourself ie: your kill death ration. This rewards knights for both surviving and downing knights. In this method of scoring anyone has a chance to suddenly go from the least scoring knight to the top scoring knight.
