What type of damage is curse? (piercing, elemental, normal)
Curse
Curse is its own damage... there are trinkets that only resist against curse so i think it may be its own kind of damage.
Curse status doesn't inflict damage.
It's typeless, like Fire.
If it were Shadow, it wouldn't hurt Silkwings nearly as much as it does (they are Fiends and strongly resistant to Shadow).
There are damage types like Normal, Elemental, Piercing... AND there are status effects like fire, freeze or curse. Those are different and each need their own resistance/damage boost.
Shock seems to do Elemental damage though?
How do you come to that conclusion?
The colored bars that fly off your body when hurt by it. I have a suspicion that the damage is all typeless, and its simply color coded so you can tell the damage apart. But it doesn't really matter though since armor defense doesn't affect the damage taken by status effects.
Shock damage is considered an elemental attack.
It deals heavily reduced damage to Gremlins and Beasts; it deals bonus damage to Constructs and Undead (watch when a Mecha Knight shocks itself-- you will see the golden "super effective damage" star every time the damage ticks).
Shock damage can be blocked if you had your shield up when the damage ticks happen. (I do not know how this works, but it does. This doesn't work on Fire's typeless damage, even though the shield block animation plays.)
Okay, so the damage you deal with a shock-inflicting weapon or the shock status is elemental. If you take damage from shock, you can only reduce it by shock-resistance (or be blocked, like Gigafreak said?). I didn't know about that difference until now.
Hmmm... hard to say, I rarely curse something. I think Shadow or Normal :s
