But I can't quite place it. I mean, this monster king shows up out of nowhere and asks us to stop exploring the clockworks and spend all day killing each other instead. Sounds reasonable... But then he hands us all these BOMB HATS, saying they're gifts and that we should all totally put them on our heads, and I can't help but think something isn't right about that... Free hat? What's his angle?

Well, I'm going to go ahead and strap this bomb to my head and go kill my fellow knights, but I'm keeping my eye on that monster king! I just know he's up to SOMETHING!

I, for one, trust King

I, for one, trust King Krogmo. A monster willing to converse with, and come to a mutual agreement for both parties, must be a gentleman and a scholar.

I feel that such a man would never betray us. He provides us with what we want - upgrades to our equipment - in exchange for what the monster community wants - entertainment. Plus a small amount of crowns; after all, maintaining the coliseum has running costs.

Understandably, many people

Understandably, many people think King Krogmo is the bomb. Though the PVP he currently offers has boom for improvement, it's still an enjoyable way for knights with explosive personalities to have a blast.

Still, defuse who doubt his benevolence have every reason to do so. He just appeared out of nowhere, almost like that mysterious bazaar-esque building in Haven did. And everyone knows how looks can be deceiving when koopas are involved...

Perhaps it's combust to keep looking into the matter, once everyone has had their fill of PVP and all. As they say, "detonate than never."

The Frog Prince is just a good businessman. He gets us to pay to play in his colosseum, then he sells us recipes with the coins we win, then thanks to his obvious connection to the alchemy machines makes more money and energy when we craft. He then probably turns around and sells weapons and other things to the monsters in the clockworks.

He is playing both sides! I say we revolt and take all his stockpiled toys!

Also guys have you considered this?
King Krogmo is a big guy.
It took forever for PvP to come back (almost as if it was on a different time line than most would consider normal*) ((Not complaining btw))
King Krogmo's coins gives a vanity item mask
The amount necessary using those coins to get the mask or to craft stuff with takes a while to collect.
The mask is the same as a hat.
The Masks can also be bought with money in a value pack
If you get the maskhat with coins you can "trade" it
King Krogmo's name starts with a K
K is 4 letters away from the letter G
G starts off a 4 letter name...

You know, this would be a

You know, this would be a valid point if Spiral Knights weren't so resilient. I mean, they've been shot, stabbed, bitten, attacked by zombies, clobbered in the head, zapped with Incini-Lasers, assaulted by living Jell-o, and forced to listen to other Knights complain about how much the energy economy sucks, and yet the worst that's happened to them is that they return to Haven with a rather large amount of Energy drained.

That said, I may want to keep an eye on Krogmo. Same with the gremlins in the Bazaar.

I'm starting to think "King"

I'm starting to think "King" is either simply Gremlin (which is a language the monsters that speak might be likely to know in the Clockworks) for "Manager/Leader/Chief/Important Patriarchal figure", or the Knights are permanently stuck in a very stupid feudalistic mindset so anyone with a larger range of power than over his own backyard is a "King".

King Krogmo is only a "king" because he runs a huge resort/Colosseum that is large enough to accommodate and entertain monsters from all over the Clockworks.

Let's just hope he isn't capable of reproduction, I'd hate to see his kids, particularly if they were female.

Curiousity killed the cat

I guess OOO decided that since they couldn't stop us rustling through their files looking for interesting things they'd put in weird things to throw us off the hook and confuse us entirely.

It also seems they have a bunch of enemies skinned out that would be rather interesting to see in-game but are currently only either rumors or totally unexpected... For OOO's sake I'll not say more of them except that I can't wait to fight them in-game
