Danger Rooms - Yeah or No?

You're cruising through the clockworks and up pops a DANGER ROOM.

On one hand, if you clear it you get some cool cash and mats without having to pay another 10-energy elevator fee.

On the other hand, there's a good chance you get your ass handed to you, lose energy on revives, or worst of all, have to vacate to Haven and lose all your heat.

Towards the end of the Preview I found myself passing up the Tier 2 danger rooms on account of being poorly equipped and lacking confidence in my ability to survive.

What do you do? Always danger room? Only with your crew of top-geared guildies? Leave them alone?

Danger Rooms are best done in

Danger Rooms are best done in pairs.

The scale up isn't huge, your friend can revive you and loot sharing is a lot less complicated.

Some of the danger rooms are

Some of the danger rooms are really easy.
Such as the one with the huge circular space and NO spikes that spawns mostly skeletons.

That's the easiest in my opinion.
But it isn't a cakewalk unless you and your party members have an avenger/divine avenger and a vaporizer that suits the condition.

Yeah I do all the circular

Yeah I do all the circular ones with no spikes, and I also do all the ones with the thornbush down the center and the 4 spike boxes in the corners. I quit doing the Spikebox ones because they only ever seemed to spawn the Wolvers, and it was terribly irritating having wolvers spawn where you were trying to run when you had no room to get around them except by going in the spikes. So I pretty much avoided any and all spikebox rooms towords the end of the preview event as they were not very fun at all. B)

The rewards include the heat and crowns you get for killing the monsters in the first place, and a chance of getting anything thanks to the fact that red chests can spawn any item as far as I know.

However spawning equipment is extremely rare coming from a red chest.

I got a Hot Edge from it once...
In a Tier 3 Raid Danger Room.

Good Heat
More Mats
Fun

Con's:

Bad Drops
Waste of energy for players who are low on energy

Personally I think all Danger rooms are pretty easy with the right people around you. Personally I use to be able to solo T1 and T2 Danger rooms I cant anymore due to my account being wiped. Solo'ing T3 arenas are pretty hard really matters which monster type your against etc.

After the first day.

No.

Never opened one again, never looked back on it throughout my adventuring.
Except for that time where Xerox, I believe, pointed out that there were no spikes in a particular danger room (<3 level layout spoilers), and it went pretty easy.

Then on the last day my party seemed to have had a hivemind moment and we did one.
Slime mobs with thorns. Not bad.
Still abysmal drops.

I'll almost always solo T1

I'll almost always solo T1 danger rooms with the circular layout. If it's either not a circular layout, or I can't tell from the door, then I won't open it.

Depends..

It mostly comes down to two things, the theme of the dungeon and the shape of the room. For the most part you can tell which room you'll be battling it out, so it mostly comes down to the monster types.

I always run with either my guild-mates or friends and I've complete confidence in their abilities to survive, but I still always ask their approval before opening those gates.

Danger and difficulty aside,

Danger and difficulty aside, is it always worth it in terms of energy cost per crowns and heat gained?

I always felt bad opening the little treasure rooms with energy because I just wasn't sure it was the best use of my energy compared to clearing another floor...

It's only really worth it if you can survive room 2 and preferably room 3. Otherwise they're an obstacle more than anything else.

I always open the treasure rooms. More heat never hurts, and if it's a red box, getting 3-star or even 4-star very rare materials can mean the difference between getting a 3-star weapon earlier or trying to fight through the upper levels of Tier 2 multiple times with a 2-star weapon.

I liked them

though it was a pain to finish it using a prot sword, shield, a cyclops hat, and a fencer suit...in tier 1, floor 1, everythin at lvl 3...well, spam proto gun shots and you will be fine. It was a pain because i was low on health, and one hit would kill me for sure (actually, it killed me for sure)...It's a nice rewarding sidequest to do in our main quest to go to the core.

Generally, I'll go into

Generally, I'll go into danger rooms before the midpoint, but avoid them afterward. I've had pretty good luck getting tokens from the danger room chamber of prizes, and that seems like a fine reward.

The irritation for me is when a party of low geared players, including me, insists on taking it on despite my advice not to. As soon as they see that door, they open it up without consulting anyone, then everyone is obligated to go in. Sometimes, all I want to do is reach the next town. -_-,
