Since Fire is one of the more annoying (and damaging) statuses out there it may be better to go with the Crown. There is a small problem in that though, the damage penalty against Fiends so its not quite universal (not like pairing Silvermail with a Vog Cub cap or Skolver + Divine Veil would be) but its one of the better options out there.

Another thing to note is that you want all around defenses but lack piercing defense. I don't think there's anything you can do about it at this point since the only gear (as far as I know) that gives Piercing and Shadow defense is Silvermail which doesn't have a matching helm. Normal defense is good though since its everywhere and Piercing is usually the least required defense, although Alpha Wolvers will eat you alive. Slimes aren't problems though so you should be alright.
