Battle Pack

I know there's been a few posts about this already, and each has received the same copypaste response that steam has made an error, but is Spiral Knights taking no responsibility on it? Due to the advertisement's time sensative nature, it qualifies as false advertising.

You really should have it sorted out before a formal complaint is lodged.

Yeah, some kind of public

Yeah, some kind of public statement really needs to be made about this. So far there's only been one random post buried in one random thread.

DrLequack is appaled at that profound display of epic fail.

Wow, who missed this. Once again three rings poor work ethic is exposed, but for once it isnt through having to debug somehting five times or by copying bomberman.

What? It IS 45% off. You get loads of extra stuff that you would have had to buy otherwise. Mist tanks, krogmo coin boosters, unique set pieces, the coins, the artifact...
Three Rings says "Hey buy this energy and we'll throw loads of stuff in for free!"
Steam says "Hey there's this huge pile of stuff and we're giving you a discount!"
Two different ways of saying the same thing.

Nick posted in another thread

Nick posted in another thread talking about this. Buying everything separately would cost you $45. This is $25. This is a deal.

The issue is that the steam

The issue is that the steam advertisement suggests that the deal is temporary, until Monday, and is a sale (45% off) instead of a 45% VALUE which is how Spiral Knights describes it. It's more than a "buyer beware" issue because steam is saying that this is a time sensitive offer which entices users to spend money faster than they originally might.

Yeah, Nick has posted about it, but has only said that steam had made a mistake and did not say that they're working to correct it at all, only that a mistake was made on steam's end. Basically saying "we take no responsibility for this even though we're benefiting from false advertising." which is against the law in most countries that Spiral Knights is promoted in.

It's kind of a big deal because shrugging it off on SK's end is basically saying "We're okay with breaking the law."

Not exactaly, I mean, how did they get 45% out of that?
"Err, that helmet looks kinda like a 15%.... The armors probabaly more like 10.... Hmmmm..... Yhea I'm going with 45%, sounds ok"
Or it was someones 45th brithday. I dunno.

And no Ieikr, they said; "We're okay with leting our freinds to break the law if it benifits us."

45

It says 45% because you get the value of $45 for $25
So it's a "45% discount"

This is very shady, i saw it

This is very shady, i saw it on steam and logged in and it was the same price as always and nothing about limited offer.

steam: HEY COME BUY THIS

steam: HEY COME BUY THIS THING THAT'S 45% DISCOUNTED ONLY UNTIL MONDAY!

Spiral Knights: HEY WE HAVE A PACKAGE THAT IS A 45% VALUE BUT WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR A LONG TIME.

consumer: Hey there's a sale on steam! that's pretty normal. Oh hey, 45% off spiral knights pack? wow that's awesome there's never sales like that! I'm going to spend money on this because it's only available until monday!

consumer on tuesday: ...hey what the hell the pack is still there, that's pretty dishonest.

I understand what happened, the problem that I'm having is that no one has corrected the error. False advertising is against the law, and this is false advertising. No admin has even commented on this thread, probably because I actually called them out on it being ILLEGAL.

If you think you have such an excellent case...

Maybe you should obtain the services of a lawyer?

Again, if you're so upset about Bomberman in your SK and are afraid that you're getting screwed by a package deal (and its perceived immediacy) perhaps you could do us all a favor and quit. And stop posting on the forums.

There there, just calm down. Hush, it'll be okay. Hushhh...

(I don't think there is any evidence of poor work ethic. I think we're seeing a lot of content added in a short period of time and pretty swift execution on bugfixes, which are necessary for any game.)

Does it not say weekend deal

Does it not say weekend deal ON the advertisement?

on the bottom it says get the pack 45 percent OFF for the weekend. Which means, and always has meant, 45 percent off the regular price.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with their advertisement. It's PERFECTLY understandable.

nobody wants to work on a sunday

i really thought
steam players were getting extra discount.

but since thats a mistake on steam's end.
i can hold out till next mth when
i can set aside money for the pack

that aside, maybe it will be fixed on monday.
I dun believe SK would allow this mistake to be overlooked
that would be dishonest on their end.
but they only need to send and email out to steam and
do the appropriate follow up with steam.

all SK need to do is try to get steam to correct this.
whether this actually gets corrected on steam's end,
isn't their concern or control

I dont understand

How can they say that the battle pack is worth 45 dollars I mean it is just a costume which does nothing and 9500 CE which you can buy free ingame i.e the pack isnt worth anything but everyone thinks that because they somehow came up with a 45 dollar net worth and that they are selling it for 25 dollars that it is such a big deal that they need it I mean yeah it may take some time making 9500 CE but is it really worth paying money that you could spend on something that actually exsist in real life

Pupu, you dont "get the value

Pupu, you dont "get the value of $45 for $25". They are two completely different items, so try reading. Battle pack and battle royale pack.

Dancinjen, guess what;

Kiss it.

USEFBerries, try using periods after sentances. It isn't difficult.

Anyway, I figured out the actuual savings from getting the larger pack. The 45$ pack is basicaly four 25$ packs, where you have to give 3 to your buddies. 25$ times 3 is 75$, and 45$ is 60% of 75$. So It's a 60 precent discount. So you all fail.

@DrLequack

all the packs, are at the same price.

i just checked both a steam and non steam acct.

steam explicitly mentions the "battle pack"

not the royale pack.

I firmly believe that steam is mistaken.

Orangeo's picture

I know they only mentioned

I know they only mentioned the battle pack. I'm saying they couldve made a better Ad if they mentioned the battle royale pack, becuase they couldve made a giant 60% off logo, and it wouldve made actuual sense. You got the right idea, you just didn't get exactaly what I was saying.

There isn't anything

There isn't anything misleading about the advertisement. I think for all other players it is weekend only. As I'm not a steam player, I do not know the benefits steam players get. If steam is posting an ad that says weekend only, then that is THEIR fault not three rings. It is not a legal matter, or against the law. It is NOT false advertisement.

Could the ad be more descriptive as to what is what? Probably. Mentioning the battle royale pack is something that would benefit three rings. If steam players are getting a discount for being steam longer than this weekend and STEAM is advertising it at only being this weekend, then contact them. Tell THEM they have it wrong.

People make mistakes big deal, get over it.

DrLequack (nice name btw) kiss what exactly? I'm starting to think you have a crush on me with you telling me to kiss things (or you I'm assuming).

I just checked Steam forums

I just checked Steam forums and it seems that in the places where I'm looking, no one's brought this up. Go complain over on their forums, that is THEIR mistake after all.

Multi reply

@ drlequack

I see i see.

@ dacinjen

as far as i can tell, the new packs are here to stay.
unless 3rings is pulling wool over our eyes

steam players did not and shld not have an advantage over non-steam players.

yea its some mistake at the end of summer.

@ griffinbane

i think its not our place to bring it up in the steam forum
monday you might see smthing when
the packs either stay up or get pulled down.

"kiss what exactly?" My foot!

"kiss what exactly?"
My foot! kiss the kings foot you dirty minded pesants! And thank you for the compliment, my name is from courage the cowardly dog :3

Griffinbane, you make a good point, but I think it's safe to say it'll get more conversation on this website. Not that I think it's three rings goof-up, but it's less likely to get noticed on steam due to the many games hosted there.

its really cool when people

its really cool when people post on threads without actually reading what was said in them...

I've already submitted messages to steam with no reply, and no spiral knights admin has commented on this thread, so I dunno. I guess everyone's just leaving it alone. It's not a big deal because it's just a few words that are incorrect and people do make mistakes, but being a marketing major, its kind of a big deal to me. It demonstrates irresponsibility on both steam and spiral knight's end for not correcting the issue and ignoring the complaints that were made. It's just kind of sad when companies I support as a customer ignore these kinds of things, it's bad customer relations, and makes the company look really shady. because basically, if they don't care about these issues, can you trust them to stay legit later on? you're trusting these people with personal information and credit card info. that's what makes it a big deal. but i guess as long as we get our digital fix, nothing else really matters.

Ok lesson one oh one when it

Ok lesson one oh one when it comes to stuff like this and big companies.

Just because they don't respond does NOT mean they didn't see it. Maybe they don't see it as a problem. I don't see it as a problem. I know that you want a response you want them to recognize that they see your complaint and they acknowledge your opinions/problems. You also have to realize that not everything revolves around you and your opinions. After all the explanations, I still don't see this as misleading.

They have a process they go through when it comes to this stuff and you have to be patient. They may not ever reply about this thing it may be very trivial compared to the other things they go through. Three rings has been very good at responding to issues, even the silliest of ones. I guarentee you they see this and have heard your complaint.
