My issue is that when I launch Spiral Knights a window pops up that I presume is the actual client, however, everything inside of the borders is entirely clear, not black or white. Additionally, I can hear music playing in the background. I have re installed the game at least three times, updated java yesterday, as well as updating my drivers, to clearly no effect.

Additionally, I went into my registry after I tried those other methods. I noticed that my registry did not have two of the keys that were present in the sticky, those being render_quality and vsynch_enabled. Additionally, the display_mode key had a value different than that which was shown in the sticky. I changed it to match.

My system is definitely above the requirements, but here they are anyway.

Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit

Intel core2duo @2.53 ghz

NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS

2 GB of RAM

Go to the Spiral Knights

Go to the Spiral Knights folder and look for the projectx.log file. That class of cards will the support the game, so its probably a minor software problem on the system.

I don't see any obvious error messages, unless I'm mistaken.

Are you getting your drivers

Are you getting your drivers directly from nvidia, or through another site? If the game can launch up like that, all the libraries should be up and running. The transparent screen suggests a rendering issue, but I've never heard of aero glass effects covering a whole window before.

Aha!

The drivers weren't faulty, what I had to do was disable visual themes. It turns out that the screen was in fact completely transparent due to the areo themes. Thanks for the help :D

You can set "disable desktop

You can set "disable desktop composition" in compatibility mode options. That way it only does it when you launch the game.

If you go into

You can try disabling Aero

You can try disabling Aero globally by changing themes.

-Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Personalization
-Pick any of the basic/high contrast themes

It'll look ugly as hell, but it'll verify the problem.

Dangit.

I have the same exact problem, transparent window but can hear music. I really hope they fix this problem or something. This game looked amazing and I guess that's one less customer Sega/Three rings have.
