that would be fantastic but i won't hold my breath :)
reduced elevator costs over early access weekend?
I agree with Game0ver it sounds like a bit too much for preview players in my view I wouldnt mind it, but still think we got a good amount of special privileges.
I figured that, but is there really any harm in that? Maybe it puts people at a disadvantage for arena combat (but then again, don't we all have an advantage over new players just because we're more familiar with the game and how to advance?), but I don't think it would matter much for the regular gameplay.
If anything, wouldn't it be nice to have a bunch of high star equipped players helping show uninitiated players the ropes? The first time I played I ended up in a group with someone with one of those sick 5-star swords / guns (divine avenger?) and it didn't really feel unfair or anything. Maybe just jealous!
I'm sure many people who bought CE are going to grind their way to 4/5 star equipment over the weekend anyways, it'd just be nice for us cheapos to be able to advance a bit further. :)

... Which is a good reason for them not to, as nice as it would be. I haven't bought anything, though I probably should've bought a $9.95 package while the 25% applied on reflection, but I only joined two days before it closed. Now that it's down, I'm waiting to get back on, so... hmm... now that it's too late I'm pretty sure I'm going to play! (Still trying to figure out, too, if this game, like other three rings games, auto-deletes free accounts but keeps around paid accounts. That definitely affects the balance on buying a package at least once.)
Ahem. Though there is a good reason also for them -to- have cheap elevators. Those who bought CE will be gearing up and diving deep as soon as possible. Us 'cheapos' are the only ones who will be in the shallow levels to see any bugs unique to them and they'll get better coverage if elevators are cheaper.
There are some preview players that will not be slowed down one bit by the regular energy costs. Remember that we get a mist tank for finishing tutorial, so that's 200ME on the first day!
Crowns are gonna be in high demand and CE won't be, so you should be able to buy CE with maybe 2000 crowns. Maybe.
Those first couple of days are gonna go by fairly quickly. For all you cheapos...manage that first mist tank well, and buy up cheap CE. I don't think you'll regret it. :3
Not to mention the mist tank for getting to tier 2. Even with CE costing around 4000 I didn't have problems maintaining CE until I started failing in the later floors and ressing myself. Should be even easier now that I know what I'm doing.
Yeah. I'm planning on getting as much money on the first day as possible and buying CE while the market is flooded with people selling theirs.
I think we are already getting a head start, that would be overkill, I wouldn't hold my breath. Now a Energy Surge weekend within April? I think that is more believable, maybe even the weekend following the game going live on the 4th.
Guys, the whole point of the surge weekends was to accelerate testing and get more players to the lower tiers before the preview ended and the game went live. Same with giving away 5* gear and CE in lotteries.
I sincerely doubt that we'll see this kind of thing in release, especially early on.
I will most likely only sell 10k Ce for the first few days, so I do not get ripped off.

Nooooo..... I don't remember that. In fact, I'm quite sure the first mist tank I got was for reaching tier 2 the first time. I think I missed a conversation somewhere or something? Or maybe that treasure area in the sparrow gate that we didn't clear before going through a one-way party gate was more important than I thought... ?
DreadedChris, if you were already out of tutorial by the time they implemented mist tanks, they didn't send you the one for finishing the tutorial. :(
Players who were already done with tutorial, T2 and T3 didn't get anything.
No, I only started a couple days before shut down, so, well... I don't know when Mist Tanks were implemented, but assuming it wasn't on the last day or two of preview, that wouldn't be it. I think I somehow missed the triggering moment. I'll have to be more thorough next time.
"Guys, the whole point of the surge weekends was to accelerate testing and get more players to the lower tiers before the preview ended and the game went live. Same with giving away 5* gear and CE in lotteries."
It also promotes gameplay, and fun, and keeps interest in the game. There is no way that Surge weekends were strictly preview event events, I just cannot imagine that being the case. Just like double xp weekends in Call of Duty or events like that. I expect this to be a staple of the game every few weeks or months.
As for mist tanks you get one mailed to you as soon as you reach Haven, maybe you didn't see the mail or maybe you didn't see it in your inventory.
It would be nice, but we would be way too ahead of the new guys before the official launch. If you use your mist tanks wisely, you would be way ahead of them anyways. :S
this would make my 46hr marathon x2 much easier.... but i think its to much of an advantage. for me it would be like modding your game so you have all the good stuff and cant feel the success you would if you played normally.
lets face it -- the use of CE is an inhibitor to slow the game down and encourage people to invest money into the game (its one of the free-to-play models.. they have to make money somehow, so they will do so thanks to the people who don't have the patience to progress slowly with what they're given for free). so no, I don't feel like reduced costs is like modding the game and cheapening the experience. i want to keep playing without hitting a roadblock, or paying to keep going. that cheapens the experience for me.
personally, I would rather just pay up front for the game (whether a one time or subscription fee), and not have to stop or make additional purchases. I understand the model, and I don't hate it (I am grateful that I can play without paying if I want), but I don't love it.
however I am am thankful for the game, its a fun experience. i will probably buy some CE at some point, but not because I HAVE to, but because I want to thank the developers for making this.
(PS - for the record, i am a software developer)
i have 80 euros to start off to buy Energy and Crowns, then two week later when i get pay i will have 80 euros more to keep on buying more energy or equipment or recipes to make a cool Armour, Sword and Helmet to start off
anyway, I'm guilty of being pretty new, how much does the elevator normally cost anyway? D8
@Nearo - regularly elevators cost 10 Ce or Me (Which is pretty low, but 2Ce is so much lower lol) *After T2 and T3 Runs you should make close to enough crowns to buy another 100 ce though from my personal experience*
@Dj - Cool your a software developer interesting. At some of your points I do like 1 time subscriptions or monthly or year since it is cheaper, but many new games from what I have seen use two currencies since they bring back more revenue for companies (which easily makes sense). I have to admit Sk is not greedy though if you have patience you can play this game without buying any Ce, and if you do not if you know how to spend wisely and not waste Ce on revives well then a 50 dollar investment for you sir will most likely keep you going for more than a year. Just my view we all have opinions wanted to share mine with yours =).
Yeah, I'm not in love with the payment model at all, but this is three rings forte, creating these currencies, well, from a business point of view. It's their imagination that I love, but I suspect it's their currency models that got Sega to partner with them for this project. Anyway I play several three rings games with similar currency models, and I'm noticing something... it's very carefully designed so that someone -has- to spend real money. You cannot have enough Mist Energy to alchemize high level equipment, create guilds, and probably a few other things... you have to have crystal energy. Which is only made by someone spending real money. Doesn't have to be the person that spends the CE... but someone has to buy it in the first place. We'll see. I hope that the game is very playable at a free level or a $10 every two or three months level, 'cause if I find myself spending more than that I'm going to just have to quit. Still, the advantage of the payment model is those with money can buy what they want when they want, and those of us with patience but no money can work our way up there. (And free players don't contribute -nothing- to the game... we put pressure on the hard currency, crystal energy in this case, to have value because we can only get it with the soft currency - meaning crowns in this case! If everyone spent money, you'd barely be able to get any crowns for crystal energy, so there ;p )
I do have to admire how cleverly this kind of model cuts away any kind of external 'farming' and simply drops everything into an in-game mechanic where players with more time than money trade with players with more money than time. That doesn't mean I wouldn't rather just have a 30-day demo and then subscribe or go away model for -myself-, but it is very savvy.
Now, what was this thread actually about? Oh, yeah. Reduced Elevator costs... I expect that there will be energy+ or cost- 'bonus events' in the future, but I don't think it'll be during early access. Next weekend is more likely, to try to dig the hooks in deeper to the new arrivals among the general public ;)
I hope that the game is very playable at a free level or a $10 every two or three months level,
I suspect that it is. Like you said, the people that spend the CE to craft stuff aren't necessarily the people that buy it in the first place. Some people have plenty of money to spare, so it shouldn't really be that hard to get the CE you need from us. Plus, $10 is 35 days worth of extra energy, plus the 100 ME that regenerates every day... supplemented with the CE you get from crowns, that's more than enough.
From what I've played so far, this game does the whole "get 'em addicted" thing very, very well. I think the reduced cost elevator thing helps with that, so probably a while after official launch. It's great. :P
EDIT: I have to add, though... I hope we get some more payment-amount options in the future! Not payment type, but how much we want to spend, with even more of a bulk discount than the $50 option. I, for one, wouldn't mind getting like 230-250K CE for $500, which is a better deal and much less of a hassle than spending $50 ten times for 200,000 CE.
Yeah it would be fantastic! But I doubt it. That'd sorta be too strong of a start for us preview players.
