First I'd like to thank the developers and everyone who was involved into helping those having issues to buy energy by giving us the option of using Ultimate Game Cards (UGC). If you've been here a few months back I created a topic about this option and I extend my thanks to those making it possible. Now after seeing this game rise to an unexpected spin, I've never expected to see this game be related to a big company at all and to my surprise it's SEGA which is one of my favorite gaming companies. On the videos which promotes this game, SK, a lot of people seem to think that it would also be available for consoles, PSN to be exact. Now, with SEGA at your side.. wouldn't it be possible to go that far? I'm pretty sure that it would make the game really popular among many audiences.
SK for PSN?
Porting a game is harder than one would expect
This is a Java game after all.
TRD would have to learn an entirely new programming language (unless they've coded for the PS3 before) just to even get started.
Then they'd have to adapt all of SK's features on this platform to get it to actually work, and coding for a game can take a while.
They'd have to resquash bugs that may have been fixed.
And SEGA as far as I know is only advertising and providing servers for Three Rings to use, in exchange for a partnership and being able to plaster their name onto our game.
Porting the game to a console would likely go against one of Three Rings' constant design paradigms, to use open source development tools.
That, and development licenses for consoles are expensive, that is why most PC games are cheaper than their console ports... no licenses needed to publish on any PC platform.
I agree with Dogrock since he real smart with this stuff, and I think the new payment methods were given to players after Sega Signed to work with Sk from my knowledge thats when I saw the new payment methods.
If any system this game needs to be on the 3ds. Input is important to an mmo style game and the touch pad would be perfect. Graphics are comparable too.
What I had assumed is that most of the game is run server-side, and all the application on your PC represents more or less a graphical front-end. Somebody, correct me if I'm wrong on this one. @_@
If so, then all a PS3 port would have to be is like a new front-end to the existing servers... That is, if Sony would allow it. I know that Microsoft are real sticklers about not having interplay between platforms, but I haven't a clue about Sony's stance. Also, with SEGA's support, TRD wouldn't *have* to be the ones porting the game, unless they really wanted to do it themselves.
I'm pretty sure that if this game becomes very popular then it'll get their attention, if it's Sony.. anything is possible lol. Anyway, thank you everyone for your input!
i truly think this will be a online only game for now or the time bean... but like we live in a changing gaming planet, who knows rite? who knows in the near future. ahh and by the way the creator of the game is Tree Rings and not Sega i was told by other players, but with Sega Support in there side i truly think they made it Big. i play during Beta Preview Event and i could tell you this game is Grate! i love everything about it... plus you get to know cool players all round the world. i hope you could be part of the vast world online.... Hope to see ya there!
