As title
Stop spawning so many Wolvers in the SLIME arenas.
Kite in one group and dodge (not shield) the multiple alpha bites, since its t2 its easier to kite, then have a gunner take out the gun puppies as you go around the room with a freeze causing gun (or get a sword hit in or w/e if you dont have a gunner) shielding only gun puppy attacks or the alpha bite that wouldve gotten you otherwise, then after gun puppies are down try and get hits in on the alpha that is done biting and doesnt have a biting buddy nearby or that is howling
If you had 10 alphas yeah you probably got ripped up due to numbers but im just guessing you were exaggerating
The trick to the 3rd room of an arena is to know that there are 4 waves, kite in the same direction, and to bring the appropriate bomb:
Wave 1 (party button): spawns top left and bottom right corners
Wave 2: most variable, but usually spawns center; may include 4 turrets
Wave 3: 8 turrets (type depends on arena theme)
Wave 4: all 4 corners
When wave 2 is mostly down, be sure to pick up all the drops, and stick to the outside of the arena. This ensures that the turrets spawn in the proper configuration, and none of them will immediately aggro. This lets you pick them off one at a time with ease. If using status bombs, be sure to stop spamming them, and pick off the final enemies of wave 2 with a precision-target weapon. (If it is a dodgy-type like a Wolver, use single blast type bombs- don't chain, as you will aggro turrets with your last bomb when it dies.)
For bombs, you should try to get these in your arsenal: Ash of Agni, Dark Briar Barrage, Voltaic Tempest. If it's not immune to fire, light it up. If it's not strong to pierce, blast it with DBB. If it's not conducive to burning or pincushioning (very rare; firo knights), zap it. This strategy has never failed me before, but it requires everyone to know the waves, and kite in the same direction. The latter is very important, particularly concerning wave 4: even if there is something blocking your way, it is preferable to die and wait for a rez than to screw up the rhythm. If you muck up the kiting pattern, you mess it up for everyone.
As for OP's problem: Dark Briar Barrage makes short work of wolvers. If you can light them up with Ash as well, it'll work even better.
And as for those of us who don't know what kiting is?
ret stfu its not panicking its when u get all the monsters to follow you and drop chem bombs (fire or shock) and this thread is pointless weather its a slime arena or not its based on PRIMAL enemies and mechs so no matter what your gunna see the occasional squirl
I'm serous there were ten alpha wolves......And there was a freaking mender to heal em all.
This isn't about how hard alpha wolvers actually are, it's about them flooding the wrong arena type. I did the poison fang arena in the Jelly King stratum earlier today, and the second and third sections of that arena had no slime spawns at all. It was just all wolvers and alphas.
I did the poison fang arena in the Jelly King stratum earlier today, and ... It was just all wolvers and alphas.
The stage is called Venom Fang Arena for a reason...
Wolvers: putting the Fang in Venom Fang.
So is it safe to assume that arenas and danger rooms tend to mess up the stratum theme by inserting whatever group it feels like?
(Arenas - depend on title)
EDIT: Also deconstruction zones. Sometimes.
If you are not able to defeat an enemy, it doesnt mean all are unable. I love Wolver! They are not as lame as other mobs, but still able to kill if you know how! Also Devilites. They are for sure the most dangerous mobs in the game. But it makes just fun to fight against em. Seriously, learn how to beat em, just don't run into em. I like if you have to be careful in this game. If you want an easy game play Hello Kitty world ...
Yes, arenas have a nasty habit of doing their own thing, only loosely fitting to the stratum theme.
There's always going to be Gremlin healers, for instance. As well as some construct (Gun puppies at the very least, but I think the mechs are always or almost always there as well.
And there's always going to be a ton of zerging enemies. Either Mecha Knights, Greavers, or *drumroll* Wolvers. That's my observation.
And as for those of us who don't know what kiting is? -eternity08

i LOL'ed
anyway....

on topic, true that the last 2 jk gates had these alpha wolvers
very very annoying....
i dont think that there should be a limit on slimes and wolvers getting together...
its just one of those times that the combination is too badass...
I remember the last jk gate having two thunderfist arenas... depth 12 and depth 14
both had AlphaVoltails
combined with constructs on one
combined with slimes on the other..
total opposites, and it just happened to be...
oh yeah, an alternate on depth 14 was an Icemaul arena, with AlphaFrostifurs and Ice cubes...
We were just used to getting the Construct arenas where the final Mechaknights were the only real threat...
the same problem is in the new flamelash and venomfang arenas on golden sun gate, but it really gets you a lot of materials and rarer (than primal spark) tokens...
so i dont mind....
In a Slime arena you would't carry piercing weaps(wich are strong vs wolvers) cuz you are supposed to fight slimes and the occasional healer/construct.
So ya, adding wolvers is kinda evil.
Arena contents are dictated by their name.
1. the prefix indicates the element: Venom Fang/Flame Lash/Thunderfist/Ice Maul/Iron Edge (neutral). Thankfully, sleep, stun and curse do not show up as arena elements.
2. the suffix indicates predominant enemy type: Cadaverous Clash/Fiendish Fray/Wrench Warfare (gremlin)/Beastly Brawl/Slimey Showdown/Robo Rampage (construct)
As a general rule, you will always find turrets (construct) and almost always lumbers and mechaknights (also constructs), so bringing an anti-construct weapon to an arena level is usually not a bad idea.
Danger rooms are spawned randomly in Clockwork Tunnel type levels, so it is entirely possible to have a Beast-themed danger room in a jelly level. I don't recall if the little explanation icon indicates the type, but you can tell the element by looking at the vents on either side of the energy gate; they will be spewing whatever element you are going to face.
I usually dint mind alpha wolves but ten of them are annoying.
If I recall correctly, they do not spawn as 10 wolvers, but one group of 2, and another group of 4 or 6 (I think 4). To not have to fight them all at once, take note of when things spawn. They will exist as 2 waves, when you defeat one of them, the next one spawns, regardless of how many are left in the other one (except the final wave(s)). So focus on when things spawn, when they do, leave one of them alive, and take out the other wave until you only have those 2 left. Then pick one, and destroy it, and deal with the next wave, and so on. If you do that, you will get 2 wolvers at once, or the 4, you wont get them all. This will allow you to kill the 2 wovlers, before the next 4 spawn so you will be able to defeat them easily.
Yes I do believe at that point the badassery level is too extreme for most people to survive.
I think the main problem is that most newbies do not know about how the waves spawn, and just try to spam their way through the tide of monsters they have inadverdantly spawned.
Yeah in a poison arena there were poison turrets and ten alpha wolves and it's just tier two! They are so freaking annoying. Our party got owned in ten seconds after each rev.
