Kingdom of Loathing
Does anyone play Kingdom of Loathing? Jick and Skully talked about Spiral Knights on the radio show!
I just about had a nerdgasm.
EDIT: It has just occurred to me that you shouldn't listen to the radio show if you are offended by profanity or jokes about human genitalia. But, still, I think it's neat that the developers of one of my favorite games are talking about one of my other favorite games!

i used to play KoL but it was wasting too much of my time, and i wasn't really getting much out of it after awhile. its definitely humorous and i enjoy what they're doing (plus how basic / low fi the game itself is), but i am beginning to hate games that involve so much randomization. i want to be good at a game because of my skill, not based on how lucky i get (elements completely out of my control). i dont mind it in the case of spiral knights, because although there is some need to grind, and the drops are randomized, at least the process of doing so is way more fun. with KoL you just.. click things. forever.
I like KoL for the wordplay---their sense of humor is exactly like mine.
Rose, KoL is apparently making money now! Crazy, I know, but there's so much more content--get back in if you have the time. I'm listening to the "live" show right now...Jick has been saying that the Monday shows are going to be live, but the Thursday shows are going to be pre-recorded and just broadcast at the usual time. We'll see how long that lasts. I usually get the shows from the archive, so I guess it's all the same to me.
They were pretty much just giving a basic overview of SK, I don't think they've played for very long, but the feedback seemed positive overall.
EDIT: Rose--it was today's show, I started the thread as they were talking.

yeah the wordplay and the referential stuff is good. it was just a pain to try and maximize adventures in a day with the right food and drinks, and I found myself unable to figure out what the next step was that was needed to progress, maybe I'm just obtuse about some of those challenges.
i do recommend it for others to try, they will probably get a kick out of it. it has its moments of fun, and the special holiday events are neat. I recently went back and played for a short while longer, but i'm ready to move on to greener pastures. i am preparing to make spiral knights my next obsessive game to play, but truthfully, KoL was the last (at least on my PC... and not counting emulated games lol).
At one point I had came across the site, might've made an account too, but play, nah.
Nonetheless playing.
I used to play KoL for a couple of years. I was attracted to Spiral Knights because I thought the Energy system would work a lot like KoL's Adventure system, though the fact that you can simply buy more energy cracks that.
KoL has an extremely high skill cap, and yet, nearly every goal can be accomplished simply by throwing time at it so low-skill players can achieve anything they put they mind to. It's a great balance that I have not seen in another MMO to date, and the reason I rank KoL as the best MMO I have ever played.
haha, cool! Is the radio show only livestreamed or is it archived? What did they say about Spiral Knights?
I used to play Kingdom of Loathing... um, years ago (2004 or 2005), I had no idea it was still goin' strong.
EDIT: I googled. http://radio.kingdomofloathing.com/
Which episode did they talk about SK? Is it from March 29th?
