The button has no relation to
The button has no relation to wolvers. I've seen zero evidence of it stopping the spawn of Alpha Wolvers, because there are no Alpha Wolvers. I've been in FSC many, many times, both pressing and abstaining from pressing said button. Either case leads to regular wolvers being spawned.
I'd advise you don't just copy down hearsay, it makes everything misleading for everyone.
From my experience there is no consequence to pressing the button.

Alpha wolvers have a small
Alpha wolvers have a small chance of spawning in place of regular wolvers in the room with 3 totems, but it has absolutely nothing to do with the button.

The button
I can tell you... the button definitively opens a secret at the end of the depth. After the final arena, there is a secret area, reached by hitting a specific cube with a gun or other range weapon, which causes a bunch of other, solid cubes to disappear. As it were, this cube is absent, leaving an empty space, if you do not hit the button. So basically, if you want 3 red treasure boxes, free, hit the button. If you don't care, or you don't want crowns and heat, don't hit the button. If... for some reason you do not believe me, i will gladly go to said depth and take screenshots, With and Without.
