I feel the magic hood line is underrated. It has normal/elemental and status resists to shock and fire, two of the most annoying things in the game. Is it unpopular because it has no weapon bonuses?
Why dont people use the magic hood series more?
I use a medium normal divine veil, cope with a high normal vog cub. Works wonder with my ASI med DA and GF.
Dawnstrike speaks the truth!
Ash Tail Coat + Miracle Hood is one of the best 4* combinations.
I have a divine veil and I'm getting a chaos set. I'm using it.
No one uses the Magic Hood series because EVERYONE uses the Wolver line.
And anyone who's not a swordsman pretty much uses the full gunslinger/bomber set.
Magic Hood gets no love because SK is an offensive-based game, where the best defense is to take down the enemy and not get hit (there are games where stacking defensive bonuses and tanking hits is a good strategy, but SK is not one of them). Consequently, because the Wolver line provides an offensive bonus, it is favored over the defensive bonuses of the Magic Hood. This is particularly true because at 5*, the Vog set is able to provide the key bonuses of the Magic set (elemental def and fire resist) while maintaining an offensive edge- thus most people deal with the lack of elemental defense until they can upgrade their Ash Tail set.
Skolver Coat + Magic Hood (the 2* one) in the costume slots will match pretty well, too.
I'm working on the Chaos set as costume if that counts :3
Feel it will look great while wielding my Cold Iron Vanquisher
Still have vog cap + skolver coat under it though...
jelly + magic series = negated stun weakness = epikness
1. Chaos Set is just horrible.
2. Divine Set offers NO normal defense.
3. Grey Feather Set is inferior to Vog because Vog offers ASI (which is probably the best bonus in the game) while providing Elemental and Normal defense. OH and fire resist... Vog also doesn't have the drawback of having negative resist against stun. Shock isn't a big thing to worry about either.
Magic hoods are good for two things (other than looking cool; I think the Ashtail Coat + Miracle Hood is stylishly gray):
* before you have five star gear, getting fire resist on your helmet (Miracle and below) - Miracle and Vog Coat is "good enough" for FSC as Vog/Vog and cheaper
* Lots of status resists on Divine Veil, including Curse resist for Faust/GF users
Unfortunately, the SASI:Medium on Vog Cub Cap is better than getting a bit of extra Shock resist on the Grey Feather Cowl (which outclasses the Chaos). Still, under 5* I think the Hoods are just as viable as the Caps.
