So I finally got all my 4* gear and I am ready to start upgrading to 5*'s.

I'm a non-paying player so I figure it will take me about a week to upgrade each piece of gear. So whats the best order to start upgrading? Shield-> Cap-> Armor -> Swords?

My gear right now is:

Owlite
Ash Tail Cap
Ash Tail Coat
Ascended Calibur
Faust
Avenger
Alchemer (2* Ice series - I never use this anymore).

I'm going Vog for what its worth. Haven't really considered FSC runs yet so JK and runs with lots of arenas in T2 are still my main goal since I need crowns for buying the energy for crafting.

Up your shield or to Vog

Up your shield or to Vog Coat/Cap first. You'll get more of a boost from getting the ASI increase in T3 than anything else and the Vogs tack on fire resist that you don't get with the Ash Tail (freezing? Bah!). I ran the numbers in a google spreadsheet (using the wiki) and honestly the difference in damage between four and five star swords is not that huge except at the very very lowest strata - if the wiki's right, the Ascended Calibur actually does more damage in one or two strata than the Levi (which doesn't make sense!).

Also, having a glowing shield or fire trails as you walk looks so much more badass than carrying around a more-glowy sword. If you used a Glacius or Nightblade, I could see the argument for getting the third explosion on the charge attack, but armor is better for the upgrade.

Divine Avenger

I'd say upgrade your Divine Avenger first, then your shield, then your cap/armor. Dawnstrike is right that there isn't a huge increase in damage from 4* to 5*, but getting the better charge attack from the Divine Avenger makes a huge difference in crowded danger and arena rooms. I can see the argument for going armor after that, but personally I think you get more protection from having a shield that doesn't break as easily, and the Grey Owlite Shield is very strong.

It all depends on you.... If

It all depends on you....

If you are good at not taking dmg, get sword(s)
If your shield breaks too much get better shield.
If you are bad at using shield and take damage get better armour.

I personally went Swords -> Armour -> Shield -> Gun (this was only for duke)

Dawnstrike speaks the

Dawnstrike speaks the truth.

If you are not running Tier 3 then upgrading the sword is pointless because the Ascended Calibur does more damage than the Leviathan Blade in stratum 3 and 4.

The damage gained from upgrading your Faust or Avenger is negligible in stratum 3 and 4 (5 damage gained in average), so your priority should be your shield (damn gun puppies) then your armor.
