Really?

Oh gee, I dunno...so if someone needs an unbound weapon armor shield or perhaps a Blue Shard Red Shard Green Shard Light Shard Dark Shard Bronze Bolt Scrap Metal Cooling Cell Fuel Canister Power Cell Waste Module Mod Calibrator Plasma Cell Ghost Bell Ecto Drop Gel Drop Frost Gel Volt Oil Chroma Tear Corrosive Acid Phial of Phear Mug of Misery Owlite Feather Philoso Feather Sharp Fang Beast Scale Critter Carapace Bushy Tail Drake Scale Dragon Scale Driftwood Redwood Ironwood Forbidden Fruit Nightshade Static Clinger Blaze Pepper Brimstone Blast Powder Grave Soil Swordstone Rock Salt Soul Dust Warp Dust Meteor Mote Gel Core Brute Core Toxic Core Unstable Core Zee Core Perfect Snowball Rocky Core Royal Core Hailstone Torchstone Thunderball Gremlin Gizmo Force Dynamo Silver Coil Frayed Fabric Fine Fabric Miracloth Silverweave Iron Gear Rocket Sprocket Heavy Gear Primal Ore Volcanic Iron Shadow Steel Sun Silver Monster Bone Blighted Bone Reaper Rib Trojan Horseshoe Everfrost Flame Soul Plague Essence or Spark of Life it would simply be easier to have a central place (like in the guild hall?!) where mats and gear could be kept for easy access.

That is all.

Is that all?

Because I don't think that is all.

However it'd be nice if you have a smaller guild, but the larger guilds would have a problem with keeping people from dipping in there too often and it'd just cause a lot of unneeded drama if someone's accused of "stealing". Yeah, this can be counteracted by setting it up so officers and Guildmasters can only access it, but then incessant begging will occur within guilds, also causing problems.

Long story short - good plan on paper, bad plan in practice.

"Good plan on paper, bad plan

"Good plan on paper, bad plan in practice."

Tell that to every major MMO. They all have guild banks.

It's a good plan on paper and a great plan in practice.

That is all.

Probally the bank is just free stuff or a guild AH?Yeah probally a free mats area?but there will always be a higher and take the the mats to sell.how about we have our own vaults and like store mats in.Crowns would not be nessecery but will be good because when I got like over 10k crowns I have the urge to buy something.

Totally!

Maybe being in a guild gives you the privilege of having a personal locker/vault (TY gerry!)? I'm always being too...charitable. Cuz I can, I sometimes make free gear and give away free weapons mats and ear to some ppl...even though I pretty much need the cash myself... Having someplace to store it would put aside most temptation.

Personal vault PLZ! It could be like pokemon dungeon rescue team! With the banks and whatnot... I just need a storeroom to put stuff otherwise I'll probably give it away again...

While my comment about every major MMO having guild banks was hyperbole (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperbole), the fact remains that a Guild bank feature is common in many popular MMO's and would (in my opinion) benefit the Spiral Knights community.

However, that being said, it is simply a suggestion and I doubt anyone will be dissuaded from playing this game by the lack of such a system. This is why I posted it in the suggestion forums.

In direct response to monkeyman: It is true that there are a number of MMO's without guild banks, however in fairness it must be pointed out that in such games (Guild Wars for example) it is not uncommon for guilds to pool their resources and keep them on a single account for easy and controlled access. So, even in games where guild banks are not implemented by developers, guilds often create them by their own means.

For your enjoyment, I have created a short (and incomplete) list of popular MMO's with guild banks.

World of Warcraft
Rift
Darkfall
Dark Age of Camelot
Everquest 2
Flyff
Age of Conan

That is all.

Even Kingdom of Loathing has a Clan Treasury. You can even dictate how much people can use up by assigning karma points (clan members get karma points at a certain rate and extra for donating to the treasury, and dipping into the treasury costs karma).

I totally support the addition of a guild bank, as well as basic systems to manage it (like levels of restrictions). For example, I probably wouldn't give access to recruits, but I trust every full member of my guild to not be a douche, and I would love to dump my excess mats and crowns so that my guildmates can use them at need. Likewise, if I am short an item or two, it would be nice to jump to Guild Hall and pull a couple shards out of the treasury.

A guild bank wouldn't have

A guild bank wouldn't have much purpose without something the guild could actually spend it on. In every other instance, if its only being used as public storage, all it really does is open itself up to stealing. Adding restrictions practically defeats the purpose of opening it to the guild in the first place if it has to be tightly managed.

And the drama...... THE DRAMA!!!!!
