5. Are you getting a black screen/a malfunctioning full-screen/bad resolution?

You will need to try and set Spiral Knights to its minimum display settings:

Close Spiral Knights (if it's running).
1. Click on the 'Start' menu and then click on 'Run'.
2. Type in "regedit" and hit 'OK': this will bring up the Registry Editor. Warning: Please do not change anything else in the registry since it could cause severe problems.
3. Browse through the registry tree and expand to 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\projectx'
4. Double-click each of the below registry keys (if present) and type in the corresponding value:
display_mode = 1024, 600, 32, 60
fullscreen = false
render_quality = /L/O/W
vsync_enabled = false
Close the Registry Editor and start Spiral Knights.

This is what Poseidon said in the sticky forum. I did exactly what he asked and I did everything except for the vsync one because I can't find it. I am guessing that vsync stands for Vertical Sync which is one of the options in Options-->Advance Options. Am I right?
Here is the problem I am having so can you tell me if vsync contribute to it. Sometimes, I am at the Characters page and it doesn't allow me into Spiral Knights and just says "Heading into town" and gets stuck there. Sometimes the characters page dissappear and shows a black screen. Sometimes when I am using the elevator the background is black while all the bars that shows what level you are going to is up without the loading meter.
By the way, I am sure that my computer meets all the requirements.

That has nothing to do with

That has nothing to do with resolution or vsync, thats a video rendering or a memory corruption issue. If it occurs completely at random, it might be something wrong with memory, and if only happens after you've been playing awhile it could heat or power related.

Whats your video card?
Have you tried reinstalling drivers, java or the game?
Are you using Steam?
And if you can upload the projectx.log file following one of these incidents to something like pastebin, mediafire, etc.

If you can get a screen shot of it next time it happens, that would be helpful as well.

My video card is ATI Mobility

My video card is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470.
No, I did not try reinstalling java or the drivers (because I am no computer master and this is my father's computer and he is totally going to kill me if something goes wrong with it). I did not install the game, I just let the window pop up.
No not using steam.
Don't know how to upload projectx.log file.
I will try to get some screenshots.

Because the paragraph says black screen which is one of the situations I have, I decided to try it out.
But the main question is what is vsync? Is it vertical sync? If yes, what is it and what does it do? And why can't I find it in those files?

The concept of Vsync is to

The concept of Vsync is to limit the frame rate to the refresh rate of your monitor. Its a simple way to deal with "Tearing", which is a video artifact where the screen is drawing one frame, and then switches to the next one half way through. It makes the image appear like someone is shaking a glass mirror with a crack in it at your face.

Most people erroneously think it breaks video cards and games because of the limit on frame rates. But in reality the whole perception of needing high frame rates is non-sense since you'd need exceptional eye sight to notice rates above 50-60hz progressive in the first place.

I'm someone besides

I'm someone besides Starlinvf, and I think you should get the owner of the computer to help you fix it.
You mentioned that it's your father's computer----is he good with computers? If so, you should ask him very nicely if he could help you get the game working.

Have him follow Starlinvf's instructions or have him borrow your forum account so we can talk to him directly.
