That shield is your starter Proto Shield.
Those other items may seem common to you now when everyone has them, but down the road the new players coming in will be envious of you all for having rare items!

Interestingly, the tester reward gear also seems to have slightly better defense than normal starting armor. That's a nice little bonus for starting out.

Notable improvements at level 10?! They have just slightly better defense then regular starter gear.
Anyway helm with crash test dummy yellow/black circle and the letter β looks great.
You get a helm, shield and an armor.
They're a little golden. The helm is a constructor helm that shows a greek beta symbol (Beta Test :P)
The armor looks like any normal armor just with some gold stripes slapped on it.
The shield is round and has a star on it.
You also get an artifact "Pioneer's Medal"
Description: "This medal signifies that the bearer was amongst the first pioneers to boldy enter the Clockworks. Through their exploration and sicoveries of these pioneers it is clear that the world beneath the surface is a far more amazing place than it could have ever been without them. Spiral HQ is proud to have them serving amongst the ranks of the spiral Knights."
