Interesting. I also thought the same about the 10 energy being used to access the drop site.
Does this mean if you have less than 10 energy you cannot start a new knight? I have a pile of CE so I cannot test.

Last time...
When I created my first knight during the 2-energy gate final promotion bit, I started with 98 mist energy. This time I started with 90 also. I suspect it costs a gate energy payment (whatever it happens to be at the time) to 'land'.

not just to land
actually, people are complaining that you also use it to log in the game...so, if you log out, you can't log in unless you have more than 10 energy (i think)
10 Energy is used to get to the crash site.
Apparently droppods require energy lol.
