For those who don't know, Greavers or those big Fiend-type bat monsters that love you get in your face.
As it stands now, they are deadly in groups, especially if they have a status effect, as a large number of people report being afflicted by this status even through their shield.
And speaking of shields, blocking these things does nothing but wear down your guard. When you block an attack, they are still in your face. And if you drop your shield to run, you can only outrun them until they swoop in again, which is fairly soon after you block, making it impossible to deal with if you don't have a decent sword. And even if you do, if they are in groups, they stagger their attacks, anyway, so it is just inevitable that they break your shield and you get hurt. Or die, even. Ever been in a Fiend arena? Then you REALLY know how badly these things can destroy you.

I have trouble with those too...

All I can do is all-out offense with my tempered calibur. They're too quick to deal with any other way. If I have enough time, I charge it and let them swarm me, then release before they hit me for a cool knockback. If I don't then I just hack and slash the most immediate threat. If I have the distance, I use a magnus.

But yeah, they are really annoying. I tried to run away once, he still hit me. You can't outrun them at all...

You usualy can't out run them

You usualy can't out run them but if you run away from them they gather to one side of you and it is easy to distract them if you have a wide swing sword. There are ways to deal with them and they don't need to be nerfed. Enemys still have to be able to hit you and defend themselves. They might be one of the more anoying enemys but they aren't by any means op.

They are one good reason for making guns decent in the game. For most enemies, sword tactics and gear is better but for greavers I'd say that guns are better.

One thing that helps in a team is that if one guy pulls too many greavers, the others quickly help him by pulling aggro of a few of them, so that everyone can deal with 1-2 greavers at a time. Don't leave your buddies in trouble. For solo play, I'd assume you have a gun ready and you should be watching out for greavers to quickly kite them. I'd prefer them to be just a tiny bit slower to make them easier to kite, but I can live with them at the moment as they are.

I hate to break it to you, but...

They've already nerfed Greavers. That happened. The fact that they still murder people is a testament to how broken they used to be.

It is possible to shield bump them away: press shield as they are swooping in, but before their attack hits (I know this works because it's how I generally deal with the little buggers). After I bump them back, I walk away from them while shooting them with my AP. The timing is tricky, and if there are more than 1 or 2 greavers in the room, like in fiend arenas, it's just totally impractical. The best way to deal with groups of more than 2 greavers (short of just always having a shivermist buster or freezing atomizer handy, which I highly recommend) is indeed all out offense, and that can be dodgy and luck-based. Swords that walk you forward a lot, like the cutter line, help by allowing you to hack your way out if you get surrounded.

The elemental haze cloud that fire/shock/freeze greavers cough out after they attack does in fact ignore shields--I think it's programmed that way on purpose.

If I can kill them quickly

If I can kill them quickly with a faust, you guys can do it with anything else. Really, they have early no health. Like devilmites, the purple attack glow is misleading, but if you watch the animation, they arent tough.

I'd have to second using a rapier-type sword to kill them reliably. The first swing has a wide arc with decent knockback, so using that, and canceling with a shield is a decent way to make some distance, and just keep repeating until they die.

Equip a DA, swing when they close in. Knockback clears room for you to retreat. Shield while back tracking. Rinse and repeat.

SOLUTION

Just get a 5* snarble and use charge. Swing + Spikes = No more Greavers.

Smack them OFF!

This. Every hit flinches them. The issue most have is the offense to easily beat a Greaver is different from normal playstyles. Just keep swinging at them and they'll go down quickly with no damage to you.

Make them flinch

Like stated several times, getting hit makes them flinch when charging up an attack. Fast and/or wide-slashing swords are recommended for them. The Cutter line works excellent for running through a pack of Greavers without taking a hit, and the swift slash-cancel strategy is the bane of their existence if you have a rapier (Flourish/Thorn Blade) ready. They are only deadly if you let them be, common sense would be to not give them that opportunity.

No support.

@raxxok Can't get past fiends

@raxxok
Can't get past fiends in room 1. I'd take fiend nerfing over greaver nerfing any day. Those monsters just attack out of the blue, no warning EVER. Just BAND-you're-dead.
