I don't get the motive behind this either... Even before the trinkets were reintroduced, people always focused on CTR/ASI UVs anyway.

You're actually complaining not because it adds to the game, but because it indirectly hampers your precious profits? That's reason enough to revoke your right to arguing.
The market is already broken, you really don't need to poke at its balance over mere details like this. The trinkets are useful and valuable, be happy about THAT.
The idea with the damage capping was that so you wont get people like in most other MMOs having ridiculously high damage and pretty much 2 hit KO everything in sight, making the game boring and unchallenging.
I can see why you're complaining but not every armour or shield gives damage increase, in fact, only the skolver set and thorn shield series actaully gives an universal damage bonus, and those gears sacrifices alot of defensive power in exchange for that (skolver giving you the useless freeze resist, thorn having no status resists at all).
Actually, the Bristling Buckler series were the only equips to give a universal damage bonus; Skolver is the Sword version of the Mad Bomber/Shadowsun sets.

I'm complaining because it makes my (what used to be pretty damn awesome) VH Vs. Constructs Acheron completely useless. There's NO reason to use any weapon with a damage bonus when you can get an exponentially better effect by using those trinkets and an ASI or CTR weapon.
It's not about profits at all, it's about game balance. Considering most people focus on one weapon type, there's virtually no downside to using those trinkets to boost your damage. Compare that to say, Skolver, where you had to deal with having Pierce defense and the less useful Freeze resist in order to maximize your sword damage on anything, and the Mad Bomber set which reduces your tolerance to status effects. The trinkets have NO downside aside from preventing you from using the CTR/ASI trinkets (which doesn't matter if all your weapons are ASI or CTR anyway).
You actually have to craft these items (or pay for them) and get a monthly renewal worth 150 CE to consistently use these trinkets. At the same time, these damage trinkets take the space of Heart, defense, and resist trinkets.
I don't see much balance problems with that. You can keep your VH damage bonuses and get CTR trinkets instead, but people have already been doing this with Skolver + Barbarous anyway...damage bonuses have been and always will be sub-par to ASI and CTR. You were just a bit slow on the uptake to find out.

@Alwen If you pay attention every trinket (even those that were in the game before the update) have the same ability than some of the possibles UVs - exept hearth pendant-
