Question about status resist on armor

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could explain the status resist bars on armor. To the right is blue and to the left is purple/pink. I'm assuming that to the right is a strength and to the left is a weakness. Is this correct? If it is, then why would anyone chaos set?

You are correct, and no one would want it because it sucks, the damage bonus low doesn't make up for all the status negatives it has, Divine or Grey Feather are much better.
