I wanted to suggest as a left handed player and being part of an ignored minority, that I would really enjoy the option to make my knight left handed as well. Granted, it is a minor thing to do, but for anyone that is left handed, it is nice when a game gives that option since we are so ignored in video games.

I also wanted to suggest that I would enjoy see the Thwack Hammer line continued. Maybe a Thor's Hammer? Also, continuing the Swiftstrike Buckler would be nice. I can use it quite effectively in Tier 3, an upgrade with possible movement speed would be appreciate. Thanks.

i wouldnt mind this option but this would involve more than just mirroring the character models u would need to remake all armor, shields, etc to reflect the change

It likely wouldn't be too hard to reflect the graphics. That would make some gear look different, though.

Or they could do like The Legend of Zelda and make you right handed most of the time, but left handed when facing in a particular direction in order to save on the space that separate pictures would take. :D

(Okay, so that's only relevant for 2D stuff, and not 3D OpenGL.)

Maybe OOO could quiz you slightly on your registration to the game? So Male/female, left/right handed, guns/bombs/swords (Pick two of three)

Less likely third one...

Anyway, the questions would define your character slightly, making each slightly unique, so girls would have feminine versions of gear, while guys...you get the picture...Always asking if ppl r dude or dudette so I don't accidentally call a dudette a dude XD

Left/right handed here is self explanatory.

Though this idea may take a hell lot of time to implement, comments on it anyone?

Hmm, did you even read the post? I'm pretty sure there was no "whining" involved. It was more of a suggestion not like "oh gawd, OOO is leftist and I feel sooooo left out without a left-handed knight. Please help fix this wrong doing!!!" Seeing as nothing along those lines were said, I think you should shut your judgmental mouth and leave everyone in peace.

I do realize that it takes some work to do this, but there is nothing wrong with suggesting it, right?

Find a different MMORPG that someone has heard of, that offers left-hand characters? You won't find one, because a company isn't going to waste their time making this update, that won't change anything. They'd rather use that time to put real updates in the game, that will actually get them money.

I like it!

I love this idea, the only game with a important lefty that I've played (as far as I know) is the Legend of Zelda series. I know I shouldn't, but I get pissed whenever I see Skyward Sword, as I know Link is a righty in there. Same with the Wii version of Twilight Princess.

Back to Spiral Knights, I'd like to be a lefty! Or maybe even swords in both hands? That might be undoable, but hey. But still, lefties for the win.

A boy/girl feature would be nice too. Maybe then I'd stop assuming everyone with a "Spiral Tailed Helm" is a d00dette.

1. Some pieces of armor have significant chest volume. :D
2. You can assume that people with Spiral Tailed Helm is trying to play a female knight.
3. As Street Fighter 4 and Mortal Kombat 9 have shown, it is possible to readily flip the stances of 3d models.
4. Swords in both hands can be a separate "weapon" in the sword slot altogether. The shield doesn't need to be held anyway (it's attached to the wrist normally, and also it provides a force field so theoretically it can even be mounted at the characters back and still work)

I think the best way to distinguish between boy/girl is to just whip up a bunch of low level costume armor. I really don't think having a left handed configuration would take that long, though I could be wrong, and no one is pushing it saying stuff like "DO IT NAO THREE RINGS OR I QUIT", etc.

Back in the medieval times, where knights, etc, originated, there was no left handedness, everyone was right handed, or dead. All Knights fought as right handed as that allowed them to work together as a unit better. The one exception was a single group of left handed knights, where everyone in it was left handed.

As for distinguishing between guys and girls, we don't even know if we are biological entities, i.e. we could be genderless machines. Some armour looks girly, but I would say most is gender neutral. Instead of aiming for distinction between guys and girls, aim for elimination of gender in this game. That way you wont have people discriminated against because of their gender (i.e. guys whining cause girls are in the party). Also, again, back in the times where knights originated, there were only male knights.

Actually, whoever whines about there being someone f the opposite gender in their party is just immature. -_- Girls and guys, hmph. My guild leader is a girl. And so is a good friend of mine.

I just get tired if calling everyone a dude only to find they're a dudette, or assuming someones a dudette cuz of their noob armour only to find they're a dude.

Still, about the genderless machines things, machines still have some sort of gender identification sometimes. Ever seen Zoids New Century? The droid Benjamin falls in love with a judge droid, when stereotypically all judge droids are guys. And there is no visual difference in them whatsoever.

Plus, guys call their cars boats, planes, or trucks 'baby' or 'she'. French refer to objects with genders as well. (I kid you not) I don't see any actual relation to their appearance that gives them such classification either.
