hi, im been playing sprial knight for about 3 days, already in T2. In arena or like the last wave of mobs, my fps tends to drop like crazy! It gets really hard to use a sword and not die. So i kinda figured that i would be more use to my team if i used a bomb or a gun but im nt sure which is better. Can someone here advice me on which one i should focus on? And if possible, list a few good weapons to aim for. Thanks!

I'm also suffering of bad FPS

I'm also suffering of bad FPS drops when there are lots of mobs, but I'm not sure how I'd relate that with some weapon type choice... To bomb you must remain safe during all the charging and be precise with the timing, and to gun effectively you must be very precise when shooting, so whatever you do it might need decent FPS to be good.

I'm mostly a swordsman but also use guns and bombs when I like to, I admit to spam my gun (alchemer or pulsar) sometimes when dealing with a bunch of mecha knights and I have a low FPS, but I usually still need to get back to my sword(s) anyway...

Ice and Shock weapons can help for crowd control, thus they might help, but if you like swords just use an elemental brandish...

OTOH, if you've been playing only for 3 days, you can always try using guns/bombs and see if it fits your style...

BTW, playing solo helps me w.r.t. the FPS drops... (and at least I know where mobs are supposed to be when I kite).

Especially if you go the solo way, a pulsar of the polaris line or a bomb from the shivermist buster line are good complements to any sword, moreover they will serve you well even in end game (FSC). In groups you might want to trade the polaris for a storm driver...

Bombs away!

Bombs are definitely the most effective weapons in arenas. Fiery vaporizers especially do massive damage to hoards of enemies and blast bombs do nice damage with useful knockback. Unfortunately, many people with graphics lag say that bombs aggravate this problem. I suspect that if your lag is due to a weak graphics processor, bombs are going to make it worse by demanding more of your struggling system. If your arena lag is due to network latency, the bombs shouldn't add to the problem because their animations are calculated locally not on the network.

Alchemers are also great for arenas (I prefer the cryotech line) because the gun puppies are weak to elemental damage and fighting from a distance lets you dodge the bullets. So if bombs make you lag, I recommend trying an elemental gun.

I think you should fix your

I think you should fix your FPS problem first with a computer upgrade. If your FPS problem involves just Ironclaw Munitions Factory though, you may need to take extreme measures. Try quitting Spiral Knights (using task manager and close javaw.exe) in between levels and then reconnect.

So yes if you just started

So yes if you just started tier 2, you probably should not be looking at the polaris, callahan [ deffintly dont] voltaic tempest and divine avenger

The polaris and voltaic tempest are weapons you get from the boss roarmulus twins [which isnt that hard] as a pulsar and static capacitor respectively, the polaris is the most useful gun in the game IMO so you should probably aim for that

The divine avenger is an upgrade from a sealed sword which can be obtained from royal jelly aka jelly king, IMO its the most useful sword in the game especially its charge attack which shoots out 3 swords that pierces enemies and knocks them back

However if you are only going to go for 2 weapon slots, i seriously suggest not bringing both at the same time. as they both deal elemental damage though most people will go for 3 and at higher levels, 4 weapon slots

To be a little more specific

To be a little more specific than klipwc (he gave really good advices though), you probably want a polaris as an only gun. The only types it doesn't work against are gremlin and beasts, and you'll probably use a sword for them anyway (I heard some specific are gremlins are easier to deal with a gun, but it is in T3).

As for the sword, if you plan to have only to slots, I would advise one of those 2 swords :
- Barb Thorn Blade (from the Snarble Barb you can have with token dropped by Snarby, the T1 boss), which is an awesome piercing blade. You'll have an easier time dealing with wolvers and fiends, but it doesn't work well on constructs and slimes
- Leviathan (Calibur line), which is a very well-rounded sword, with an awesome charge attack, which can often OS gun puppies. It doesn't really have any weakness (apart from the charge attack which can be bothersome for your party), but doesn't have any bonus damage either.

Ok, I like the polaris very

Ok, I like the polaris very much... but the OP:
- speaks specifically about team work
- has FPS problems

and for both I'd say a Storm (or Hail) driver is probably better.

If you say the polaris dosent

If you say the polaris dosent have teamwork.. then you have never seen two people with polaris working together before, the rest of the team can just sit back and watch the fireworks as the monsters get decimated

And to FPS problems, i live in singapore with 1sec lag at best, and 3-4 secs lag at worst. Trust me... the nitrome is worse
