Weapons tables formatting

IMHO, the formatting of the weapons tables looks a bit sloppy. Since these are one of the most frequently visited pages they can use all the polish they can get.

I think the main thing that gives a sloppy impression is the fact that there are a lot of large cells with "N/A" tugged right in the upper left corner of the cell. This could be helped a bit by vertically aligning the text in the cells.

Since this is partly a matter of taste, I'd thought I'd ask others for input first.

PS. The ordering of the weapons (other than starlevel) appears to be kind of random at the moment. This probably due to new weapons having been added to the tables. What is the "canonical" ordering for the weapons. (star level than alphabetical?)

I prefer it with valign=top

I prefer it with valign=top align=left personally. Easier to visually parse reading across the rows.

I think in the past it's been star then alphabetical.

I'm not sure why you think that would be more difficult with valign=middle. Care to elaborate?

Can't visualize

Erm... can't visualize proposed change. Sorry Trias, the one single row on your userpage doesn't help. (Guess I lack imagination)
Have made a page with the two tables so we can compare them side by side & see which looks better.

Because if some longer text decides it needs to be two lines (depending on text and browser window size), then the top of the text for that cell will be higher than the cells with one line of text. It's a visual thing for me.

Edit: Resize your browser to 1024x768. This is the minimum size for which I tend to check how things look visually since not everyone has a wider screen resolution. From SK Tactic's example, there is the issue mentioned above along with some oddity in how the icon/weapon name lines up compared to top/left alignment.

I guess the first thing is

I guess the first thing is mostly a personal preference thing. I actually find the middle valigned version much easier to parse visually.

The wrapping in the first cell is more problematic. (I think there may be a work around though.)

Meh

The user interface expert in me is kicking in... it is easier to scan left aligned text. From a technical standpoint, all the cells in that column probably have to share a common stylization.
