CTR for the sword and guns are the only things you cant get via armor bonuses... as of right now.

Yes but you have to bring up the fact that right now, only bombs have CTR armor.
It's no mystery as to why; bombs have no regular attack, only a charge. Therefore it's a balancing thing to give the masses bomb CTR armor.
A sword or gun has regular, fast attacks to fall back on, in addition to the charge.
A more proper wording would then be that CTR for the bombs are the only things you CAN get via armor bonuses, since bombs are the exception, not the swords and guns.
Granted, it would be rather nice to have it, but I personally can't see it happening.
Schwarze hit it on the head. I do not see CTR sword/gun armor coming about because they have regular attacks. For bombs CTR is much the same as ASI on a gun or sword because they only have a charge attack. Would be interesting though.

It's possible in the game rules, as are shields with the same effects as our current armor lines.
Still, unless they add a bomb-specific bonus to balance it out like, I don't know, 'increased blast radius' or 'decreased detonation time' they probably won't add CTR armor for swords and guns. Though maybe it's time they added a barbarous thorn shield equivalent for gunners and bombers.
What else would be possible... weapons that increase defense/status resistance when they're your active weapon? That could work, I suppose. Weapons that grant health would either require a reversal of the damage system or they'd be useless though (reversal as in the system tracks the damage you've take, rather than your health, and you die when damage taken = max health. It'd allow for max health increasing effects to grant the extra health immediately when you gain them and take it away when you lose them)
How about shields/armor that are buffed defensively if you match the correct weapon type, like the current armor buffs you offensively if you match the weapon type? Stuff like "Elemental defense increased while holding sword: Medium"?
...I really need to think less in terms of design space when answering a single question, I get lost in speculation of what they could do...
I believe that before the game was officially released, there might've been armors that did increase CTR. I've heard from someone that amongst the most broken of armors was the Chaos Set, due to it boosting both Attack Damage and CTR. Going through the history changes of the wiki for the Chaos set as well as other armors that came into my mind for reference, it seems that Skolver was a CTR armor as well.
These stats seem only to have existed during this year's beta phase, though I'm not sure why the changes in armor bonuses are so drastic. Chaos is a shell of its former glory, and something like Vog Cub didn't even have outside bonuses including its Speed boost.
Can any beta player that had these armors during that time confirm if this really was the case?

Another Q for them: was it expected that the abilities and stats for equipment to change at any time? Following the wiki page histories, Skolver didn't seem to always have CTR, and the additional boosts for the individual Chaos pieces seemed to dwindle as weeks passed.
Considering that then, are we to ever expect changes like that happening again outside of beta? Where armors can get and lose additional abilities I mean. Possibly without warning?
I hope so..if i had VH CTR on my Leviathan Blade i would never use the normal hit again
