Posted from twitter:
"Remember the two new monsters we hinted at a while back? Here's concept art for one. Say hello to the howlitzer! http://t.co/tLC5cPE "

Basically looks like a skeletal Gun Puppy, I wonder what their attack will be like to make it any different, maybe more like the Red Rover? With other elemental attacks?

Although howitzers are typically more like a cannon so we could be seeing some kind of advanced T1 gun puppy shooting style, one big fast hard-hitting bullet?

Howlitzers are WWII

Howlitzers are WWII artillery, which were more often used to bombard general areas rather than strike with precision (could be wrong about this), so it could be that its bullets are meant to support other classes of enemies by blanketing the area and restricting movement? However, the gun puppy already fills this role adequately IMO.

How about a pulsar gun puppy...

Could be slow moving bullets that explode. That sounds like fun to me :)

Could be an Undead instead of

Could be an Undead instead of Construct, the Undead do need some more enemy types. It'll probably be a Construct that deals shadow damage though... not that it really matters if it's Undead or Construct, both don't like elemental.

Mortar

If we look at the rest of the undead family I'm thinking like Zombies it probably wont just be shadow, we'll have fire, ice, poison, shock versions as well. I think Lanseal is kinda on top of it, it'll be big bullets with big area explosions most likely. Think mortar.

But

Hm, but gun puppies were just statues with gremlin technology.
These things look more alive.

Prehaps they are zombies of the real puppies, who have been carved all over haven. I sense that this will possibly turn into a slight plotline.

If it's another Gunpuppy...

If it's another Gunpuppy... then it's not really much of a "new" monster. Just another variant.

Now, if it's maybe some hovering and moving ghost gun type of enemy, that would be new.

Prehaps it can move and

Prehaps it can move and become intangable, unless firing. That would be neat.

Just another gun puppy?

Could see it popping up from the ground anywhere. Maybe rising and digging back in, popping up other places? Who knows. Really cool art design as always though.

Maybe they spit bomb like things from their mouths that explode after time or on impact?

Man the options are kinda endless!

Shadow&Doom anyone?

Its projectiles could deal Shadow damage and cause DOOM status...

But seriously, I think it's just a way to make Owlite Shield at least a bit less popular ;-)

I don't understand why it's so famous. Beyond fire defense for FSC, it's on par with skelly and jelly. Good but specialized.

Looks like it'll be hard to

Looks like it'll be hard to balance. I'll bet it floats in the air.

It may even move slowly.

I suppose another turret is fine... though I hope it's secretly a fiend so the different turrets have different weaknesses. I'm in all piercing defense gear right now, so a shadow turret is the same as an elemental turret to me.

Thank you for the new rainbow purple puppy, Nick and team <3

Hugs,
Raspberry

PS: Love the punny name HOWLitzer and of course purple is my favorite color. Just ask TheBadger, I go wild shopping for purple clothing and cosmetics.

Howlitzer? Hmm. Well, a

Howlitzer?

Hmm.

Well, a howitzer is a type of artillery. Given the color, it looks like it would do shadow damage, given the name, it could be possible it would drop rockets from above, similar to the Roarmulous Twins (but smaller, of course).

Really though, I think it's just to make graveyards have more than two enemies in them. As if Gunpuppies weren't evil enough!

Forshadow for new boss?

I have reached end game awhile ago and I keep thinking that there needs to be another t3 boss.. Perhaps.. A FIEND BOSS! my prediction is that they are going to make a FIEND stratum leading to some sort of FIEND boss..
Token rewards:
MAGIKAT HAT?
PURRING CAP?(so adorable)
Unique shadow gear?
....?...

I hope my prediction comes true D: this would be amazing.

It's not a "gun puppy"

"gun puppy" is from construct family. This early is not a construct. Looks more like a FIEND or undead family. Looks like it MAY~~ shoot bullets. Or breath status conditions! >;D
either way. I can't wait!

Well the two families lacking

Well the two families lacking variety are Undead and Beasts.

This one surely will be an Undead (its skeletal, grey/purple lookings are also very similar to Skelly gear).

Hope the other one is a new beast, since Chromas and Wolvers really make so poor variety...

There will be 5 variants of them : Fire, Freeze, Shock, Poison, Normal

They will probably spawn instead of gun puppies on Shadow levels/arenas to make Shadow damage more common.

damn skulls

best way 2 take them out is with a gun, preferably pulsar so the skull wont damage u right after it dies. i hate that skull attack.

@ kraanox

Charged attacks of Calibur line can kill them too. The heavy knockback will push the skull out of the way, then you move away immediately. The skull attack has a very limited range... if you move, they'll only hit empty ground.

Boom

The skull's range may be small, but the explosion(at least the damage) has a huge radius, i wonder if the skull can get ''killed''?
