Omega Shell has an enormous amount of health and a good amount of normal defense. Since a lot of attacks that monsters do in this game are part normal, I was wondering if the Omega Shell + Maximum Elemental UV would be any good in tier 3? Or how about with Maximum Piercing defense.. any good during JK runs? Maximum Shadow for FSC?

I really need to know. I heard this shield was kick*ss before.. I'd like to have it in my arsenal but I want to find out if I'll just be wasting energy and crowns if it isn't any good with these UV's.

The only reason this shield

The only reason this shield was ever popular is because it used to be 200CE to craft it and it was an easy way to meet requirements to get T3 clearance since you could craft it starting at 4*.

Omega shell with maximum fire resist.

FSC is fire themed ( if you're good enough, you should not worry too much about shadow); therefore, if you gonna get an Omega shell, get one with some fire resist.
A better alternative would be a volcanic plate shield or grey owlite shield (both have maxed fire resist, however volcanic plate shield offer maximum normal defense, and it lasts longer than grey owlite in cornered-and-surrounded-by-mob-of-slag situations. Grey owlite is almost a general-purpose shield. Dread skelly shield is completely out of the question so don't ask.)
still it's up to you to pick your favorite shield.
Have fun :D

I'm saying the shield is BAD

I'm saying the shield is BAD even with 3 max UVs.

I hope that answers your question.

LOL eek5..

You answered my question perfectly...

And with darker01 explaining everything, I think I'll just try to get Maximum Fire UV on my Barb Shield then.

How come?

Maximum health kind of useful since the shield last (somewhat) longer than most others.
So how come you're saying it's that bad?
( ik that it has no resist, but the shield does perform its function...)

Ask eek5

I'm just going with what he said...

But I'm sure that maximum health will make the shield last a tad more. Omega Shell was my second piece of 5 star equipment I've ever gotten but Lumbers would reduce it to the red stage with one hit (in tier 3) so I gave up on it. However, since there's a UV vendor now, I was thinking that maybe with a max UV it would do somewhat better? Hmm..

Max UVs on shields don't help

Max UVs on shields don't help a lot. Their effects are very minimal. Before a lot of the updates, the Omega Shell was probably a top 5 shield but a lot of things have changed since. Yes, it has more HP than the other shields but it also takes more damage than other shields for a ton of attacks. Not everything deals non-normal damage in T3 but a lot of the normal-dealing mobs now deal split normal meaning a specialized shield like Owlite/Almire/etc. will be taking less damage from those attacks than Omega which really nullifies the extra health imo. On top of that, other shields have resistances which further increase their defenses.

Maybe it's just me but let's say Omega can take an extra hit compared to Barbarous Thorn Shield; I'd take the +med dmg to swords over an extra blocked hit any day.

Food for thought: An Omega Shell w/ Maximum Elemental Defense still breaks in one shot from Vanaduke's Mace. A 4* Owlite can take like 2 maces and Volcanic Plate Shield can take 2-3..

Yes, Punch will allow you to make Omega Shell a little better than it is but I really don't see its use outside of T3. If you just wanted a T1/2 shield you could roll a UV on an ancient plate shield which has way higher normal def than Omega Shell. If Omega had Ancient Plate's normal def AND super high health it'd be a different story but having high health doesn't help at all if there is nothing to stop mobs from chipping away at it.
