what the hell is going on with the energy prices? there raising....why are people being a $#%# about it?! its almost 6,000 CR now for energy...it used to be 5,000 for 100 CE. is it just going to get higher and higher? D:<
energy
Why is it all of these CE price complain threads think the guys selling CE are <insert worst insult possible here>s ?
Why do they never look at it from the other side where they're the <insert worst insult possible here>s for being so cheap?
It's a freemarket economy. Just because you want to buy CE cheap doesn't mean people want to sell it cheap. Why are you trying to rip off the people trying to sell their CE for crowns? What kind of underhanded scammer would cheat someone out of their crowns?
See. It works both ways. Relax and get used to fluxuating prices. 6k is cheap. Enjoy it while it lasts.
ugh no thats stupid. 100 CE isent worth any higher then 5,200. im not cheap i just want a FAIR deal. and im not ripping off anyone.
it was due to OOO's conspiracy with the last Power Surge Weekend
it was all according to their plan
how do you determine what is FAIR? is it by arbitrary dictum, by supply and demand, by what the average player can yield off of a 100 CE expedition into the clockworks?
it is more likely FAIR market value of 100 CE will be somewhere in between the 2 latter scenarios than by an arbitrary determination of value (as nompoptarts would suggest).
a brief economics lesson to show why this is the case.
Lets assume a 100 CE run yields on avg 4500 Cr; and the market is selling 100 CE for 5800 Cr. What would a 'rational' player do? sell all their CE for Cr; and then sit on the Crowns and not play until the price for CE falls to where he can at least breakeven going down to the Clockworks. This would happen since it makes no sense for anybody to do a run where they cannot recoup the cost of the run and since no one is spending CE, CE prices would fall to around 4500 where people would begin to spend CEs again.
Lets assume a 100 CE run yields on avg 7000 Cr; and the market is once again selling 100 CE for 5800 Cr. What would a 'rational' player do? spend as much of their Cr to buy CEs at this 'cheap' price, since for 7000 Cr, he can purchase approx 120 CE. this means 1.2 runs into the Clockworks and pick up another 1.2x7000 Cr or 8400 Cr. Barring time, he would do this perpetually and drive the demand for CE up, hence the price of CEs until it is approx 7000 Cr / 100 CE.
There are minor considerations, e.g. cost of equip upgrades/etc; that increases the yield of Cr/100 CE.

Trying to blame the game designers for the increased price for energy is ridonkulous. Players complain it costs too much CE to play the game so the designers accomodate and lower to elevator costs. This increases the Cr yield/100 CE (as i wrote earlier) and flood the market w/ a supply of Cr without increasing the supply of CE; which will naturally affect the FAIR market value of CE, since now DEMAND for CE is up while SUPPLY of CE is constant.
You want cheaper market prices for CE? ask the designers to bump up elevator costs. lol- you know what kind of reaction you'll get from that.
But who can blame human nature for a whiner to moan and complain and hope they get a gullible sap willing to be taken advantage of by lending a sympathetic ear to the whiner.
Having played before steam joined, I remember when CE prices were about 8k.
Basically, we had a powersurge weekend which messed up the balance of crowns/ CE.
Prices rose to about 6k, then shuffled there a little bit. People thought that the price of CE wouldn't go above a jk runs profits, but slowly kept rising till they equaled a vanaduke run. Players were still willing to grind than pay.
Problem is though, the price only went down when steam players joined, and bought CE, fixing the screwed up balance. Now everythings repeating again - but we don't have another steam. I don't know where the added CE is going to come from. The price may go down eventually, but it's going to be slow I would think.
ugh yeah whatever banana.
Banana, that was actually one of the more well thought out and articulate explanations of how energy prices work that I've read. I just made over 8K crowns on a Firestorm Citadel Run, alone, for the 40 CE or whatever it cost me to run it. I'm pretty sure doing that I can sustain playing indefinitely even if energy prices go over 10K crowns per 100 CE.
So, Nompoptarts, energy prices have not yet reached their natural equilibrium, though I'm not sure what that is anymore now that JK palace has been nerfed. I'm not sure why you're posting and looking for answers and then just brushing off arguments that don't agree with you. It's easy to find 20 discussions on energy prices being too high and I rather agree with Njthug's view of CE being priced too low. It can go over 8K per 100 CE and I'll still be fine, without including AH sales...just die less and don't spend ME foolishly.
i was playing when it was 8k...
this is just about having too much crowns in the community right now after the power surge weekend...
we have too many crowns for the ce around....
it may take time but it will fall somewhat...
if not... burn me
