I think it would be a cool idea to introduce a new BN(Bomberman) style bomb into the main game. I love the blast network update, and I think mini game style pvp was the perfect choice for spiral knights. After playing it so much, me and my friend realized something: Why not have a BN style bomb (One that shoots in four directions, with no charge time but a delay before going off) in the main game? This bomb should not hurt team mates as it does in BN, for obvious anti griefing reasons, but whether or not it could hurt you would be up to OOO. I think some cool ideas for this bomb are the blast radius increasing as it levels up, as well as the number of bombs you can place at one time. The other reason I think this would be a good idea is that it would make bombs useful DPS tools for people who don't want to dedicate their character to bombing, they could just place a few at the start of the battle and then switch to their gun or sword. Anyways, this is just my suggestion, let me know what you guys think.

This type of bomb would also require specific and diferent UVs than standar bombs

What damage type would it deal? Perhaps the type would change with the color? (Green = Elemental, Yellow = Pierce, Purple = Shadow, Red = Normal. Maybe even things like Orange, being Normal/Pierce.)
It's a no-charge bomb, so if it's going to deal as much damage as most other bombs while still having no charge, there has to be some sort of drawback. Longer detonations or adding a charge time wouldn't work. Damaging teammates wouldn't work because of griefers, like you said... but, I have an idea. Instead of damage, why not afflict players with Stun? It'd retain most of its BN qualities that way, and it'd still prevent griefing (in most cases. Besides, there's always the go solo option).
Placing more than one of them at once would be kind of overkill; if it was that way the bombs would have to deal minor damage, but large damage cumulatively.
There seems to be some confusion, so I will clarify. The bombs would have no charge time, but about a 4 second delay before going off, similar as in blast network. As for UV's, I did forget to mention that... The only one that would really be affected is charge time reduction, which could be solved in a few ways, such as adding a new UV for the bomb, something like giving you an additional bomb or changing the damage type and color (I like the idea from Draycos of different colored bombs inflicting different types of damage), or they could just not include that UV for this bomb. The way I would see me personally using these bombs is by placing a few at the start of a battle, and then switching to a sword or stepping back and switching to a gun while wait for them to go boom. I could see them doing damage somewhere in the 80-130 range, more on criticals and less on enemies with resistance. The current damage bombs have a lot of problems, but that's not what this thread is about... I think this new bomb(s?) would be fun to use, and find uses in all levels of play without being too overpowered. Also, the leveling could look something like this: The blast radius would increase by one on every even level, ending with 6 squares at level 10, while you would gain the ability to have one more bomb on the field at a time at level 5, and level 10. That would mean that at level 10 you could lay up to 3 bombs with a range of 6 squares in four directions, giving a nice amount of support damage to lots of creatures without doing ridiculous amounts of damage to single targets, but also not wasting a ton of time laying the bombs.
Yeah, they would be pretty nice for taking out gun puppies and for circling around bosses and dropping them.
The closest ingame bomb would be the crystal bomb. Short chargetime, shoots in 8 directions.
I realize that the sun shards and crystal bomb are somewhat similar, but by no means the same... Evaluating the effectiveness of those bombs is a conversation for another thread though :)
I still don't like the multiple bombs idea. Some players coordinatng with them would be unstoppable creating a never-ending wall of bombs.

For a moment I thought you were talking about the Divine Avenger. Oh wait...
I like it, the stats would be fairly high damage and let you put down three bombs at one? So that it would be the right tool for killing gun puppies and trapping bosses.
