Inadvertent Market Control
Before continuing please apply your tinfoil hats now!
OOO is controlling the energy market through inadvertent manipulation.
power surge weekend hits prices soar, people complain like no tomorrow. (demand of CE rises to no extent, supply dwindles)
Trading Co giveaway weekend puts 70000+ CE on the market over the weekend (refills the supply of CE, and lowers prices, and also keeps the balance of crown to CE in balance so OOO doesn't lose players or money)
Anyone else see how this is correlated?
seems kinda suspicious doesn't it, 700+ new lots of 100 CE on the market, and they want crowns fast, why cause it was a lottery winnings that they didn't have to pay for(ooh that tier 4 gear looks shiny, and I can afford it!)

Now Discuss what you think!
OOO is not trying to manipulate the market, at least not in the diabolical way you think.
They're trying to balance the effect of their events but that doesn't mean it's a sinister plot to control us, jeez.

70k CE for the birdsong give-away has to be so small to have almost zero impact. That is only about $150 worth of CE spread across a weekend. If OOO isn't selling vastly more than that per hour, they wouldn't be able to pay employees. Yes, OOO doesn't have to give away any CE and $150 worth is better than nothing, but really isn't any huge deal.

There are always outside factors in any market. The players have direct control of the CE market... they never said we had complete control as ohhhh ANYTHING OOO does will effect the market. A gas line breaks, price of gas goes up. The stock market takes a hit due to the credit rating junk, thousands of people take advantage and buy while the market is low hoping that it bounces back. Give some no talent singer like Justin Bieber enough advertising, people will fall head over heels for him.
I am fairly sure that OOO sells close to the same amount of CE no matter what the price is in crowns. They have no reason to actively try to influence the market... and if they wanted to they could do it much easier and effectively then holding events to be nice. They do kind of have an unlimited supply of CE to influence the market however they wish remember.

If thats true, then why are prices still going up?
