I've been looking at both and i can't make a dissission between them.
I Know faust is better but is the chance of getting curse really worth it?

Patience, young grasshoppa.
Do you prefer heavy swords (2-swing) or quick swords (3-swing)? Heavy sword- get Faust; quick sword, get Acheron. It's as simple as that. My preference is Faust, but I have no problems with slimes and I prefer fast piercing swords or bombs on gremlins anyway, so I haven't bothered upgrading.
Faust only curses YOU when using the charge. It has a chance to curse anything it hits on the second swing of the combo and the charge attack.
I like Gran Faust more just because I've been using Divine Avenger forever and I'm use to that play style. If you don't like the slowish two swing swords go with Night blade. If you don't mind that kinda play, then faust.
"Faust only curses YOU when using the charge. It has a chance to curse anything it hits on the second swing of the combo and the charge attack."
No, the charge attack can curse whatever it lands on, as well as the shadow spear thing that shoots out can also curse anything it hits. Same with the GF. The charge attack has a *chance* to curse you.
I love my GF and DA. I also use a flourish. I've considered the acheron before, especially with the charge attack of it. I don't always charge my GF for an attack, and it has a really long charge time. It really depends on your playstyle but you cannot go wrong with either.
I personally enjoy my Gran Faust more than the silent nightblade that I've used - However each have their own advantages.
With the Faust, you can hit hard, you have a wide striking range, has the ability to curse, and a strong charge (which CAN curse whatever you hit with it, but it might also curse you).
With the Acheron, you have a higher DPS and much more mobility.
To be honest, I would rather take my Faust into any situation, however Acheron is more suited to small mob groups, as it has little knockback and a higher DPS. If you use Acheron in a one on one situation, it will outshine the Faust (even when attacking Jelly King).
However, the Faust is practically made for the Jelly palace - a place which unfortunately will be the focus of your delving practically forever. The Faust has some really nice knockback that keeps you out of most attack ranges, has a wide attack range (which is helpfull for the large amount of jellies in jk) and is strong but has a lower DPS. A problem some people find is that the Faust attacks leave less mobility since the recovery time is slow - but you can always use your shield to cancel the recovery and get back into swinging.
I try not to be biased, but in the end I choose Faust - Acheron line just isn't appealing to me :/ (asthetically and otherwise)
Well, on the wiki it says that the faust has an extended period of time for curse, but then again it is more powerful.
IMO, the silent nightblade is better because it doesn't have curse, and it has around the same power.
It also has 2 explosions more frequently as its heat goes up.
I also think the Silent Nightblade is better for fighting the Ironclaw Munitions Factory because its explosions are good for defeating gremlins and also hit a lot of enemies in general.
I use Acheron as my primary sword, so i might be biased... but I do think Fausts are cool!
@michael99: As has been mentioned above, the self-curse for GF only applies the charge attack, and even then, it's only a chance of it occuring. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but people hardly use the charge attack of GF anyways, given that its raw power and knockback means that it'll be primarily used as a hit/shield weapon, rather than a charge-up attacker. Thus, the curse you're talking about isn't really a drawback for the GF, as it's far more likely to curse your enemies than yourself, in any given situation (unless you miss!). Nightblade has the advantage of being faster, hence more DPS. Its slashing style is much closer to that of the Proto Sword, making it more familiar to newer users and hence easier to wield. Not to mention it looks like a friggin' katana, which is what really sets it off for me.
On a side note, was waiting for me question to be answered in another topic, but this one does just fine. After seeing everything presented, probably gonna go down the nightblade line...unless any other shadow swords come out. Now thinking about it, why don't we have any other shadow swords come out? There's only 2 of them, compared to the 3 piercing and the multitude of elemental and normal swords out there. Might do a campaign to get the 5* Spur out in shadow form...
Acheron/Nightblade without a doubt, more mobility, more dps and more adept at taking out the targets you're gonna be using shadow the most for (gremlins, jelly levels) it also has a brutal, spammable charge. The GF is probably better at handling packs of jellies...but thats really not a big concern as the nightblade is better on the boss.
That said they're both good and i personally went faust purely cus i already have the ice brandish and wanted something different - it's still damn good, it's just a shame its charge is near useless else it'd be beast. It really didn't need so much neutering compared to the DA..self curse was enough, but a slow charge and only one projectile makes it horrible :[
I did little more research, and it turns out that the three explosions followed by the Acheron's charge sort of act as a projectile, and then they could be equal to GF.. I also think that the GF needs a buff because it causes curse on chrge, only has one projectile, and is just as slow s DA. heloooo! can you say "damage buff"?
:) Thats my thought.
Is it worth getting a normal damaging weapon if you have a shadow, elemental and piercing weapon?
