This thread is way too long.
I don't feel that Rocket Puppies are overpowered or imbalanced, even when you get 8 (or more) of them in an arena. It takes practice (and probably a fast connection, I'm always at full bars) to learn how to use their rockets effectively to kill other mobs, but I think they're fine the way they are.

Yeah, the explosions do a lot of damage, and yeah, they set you on fire, but I'm pretty sure that's what explosions are supposed to do.

Treizeknight, necro much?

Treizeknight, necro much? -.-

Ill say it again what im saying with all those "not very clever" suggestions about nerfing X and Y and everything else.

You died, your problem. You got lag? You got wrong armor? Wrong weapon? You are not skilled enough? YOUR PROBLEM

You died, propably someone had to revive you, you lost heat, maybe you had to CE rev, or in worst scenario return to heaven. DEAL WITH IT.

You should take a lesson from it and be better prepared for next time instead of running into forum like a crybaby and start posting topics "OOO please nerf X, please nerf Y" "OOO, omgomomgi has 5* equipemnt, and i got killed by yyy, its obviosly OP you must nerf it! Its not like im not skilled enough, i had to win i has equipemnt"

We already had too much nerf. NO TO NERF, of any kind. Keep everything same.

Bumping the thread!

It's been 2.5 years, and rocket puppies are still OP.

Their rockets are completely counter intuitive - they are insanely fast when compared to regular bullets, they don't explode when they hit walls (seriously, what?!), they set you on fire without any visual warning, and they have ridiculous range. You know something went wrong when a boss is less dangerous than a regular monster, and I can surely say that Roarmulus Twins are less dangerous than a couple of Rocket Puppies shooting you at the same time.

Just got my rear armor plate forged in Ruined Compound - keeping off respawning dustbunnies in confined space in simply impossible to do without dying to missiles.

My suggestions are close to OP: reduce missile speed to the speed of T1 Puppy missile and make it explode on walls. Being able to shoot it down would be nice too, but former two should be enough. Splash damage and fire status can be left as they are.
Basically, make RP missiles behave a little more like other projectiles in the game. Keep it consistent.

TL;DR: hard-hitting but dodgeable attacks are OK, non-dodgeable attacks are not.

Mr Flibbles is the only one allowed to be OP!

All the ones saying you can lead rockets into your enemies. Have you ever seen the damage enemies take from it? It's almost nothing.

My suggestion. Make them fire Howlitzers. Those are way faster but turn way slower, making them more outrun-able. I can survive eight of them charging at me at the same tme. I can't with Rocket puppies.

Also, you can't expect all T3 knights to have fantastic defence against whichever monster you'd aproach. It really takes time to get 15 eternal orbs and pass hall of heroes. After that you've got to get at least 3 flawed ones (pretty easy actually, only about 4000 crowns or 8 runs at stratum 1-2) 3 advanced (and here it becomes big, 14'000 or 10 runs at stratum 2-3) 3 elite ones (28'000 or a smegton of raids against the Royal Jelly or In Cold Blood) and 3 eternals (56'000, or one run against Vanaduke(not anymore, they lowered the drop rate)). So, let's see here, now we've only got to buy the recipies. That's 1'000+4'000+10'000+25'000= 50'000 cr. Do you really expect defender elites to have that much money? And we haven't even got past the alchemizing cost. 400+1'000+2'500+5'000. 8'900 cr. Add it together now. Go on. 58'900 to 160'900 cr, depending on how long you care to wait for finding them, so you can dare to do any iron edge arenas. (Now you've actually only got to get the 4*, so you can remove 30'000, making it only 24'900 to 126'000 ) And that's just one piece...now double it...117'800 to 221'800 cr. (Or 47'800 to 252'000 if you're self confident enough.) Now this cloak can only stand, say about ten to sixteen hits. Now that's two rockets from every rocket puppy in the "eight turrets at the same time part. In best case.

Also remember, anyone that says "I make that much in a week! Screw you!", for any defender elite to get to FSC, they've got to go 5 additional depths through the clockworks (or be invited by supernice guildies...why do I always destroy my own arguments). But whatever I couldn't run FSC in an Ash Tail Coat and one 5* weapon. I only got to level 2, where I got killed by (guess what!) A rocket puppy. Though it mostly were for my own stupid-ness, I don't think I could do any of the Trojans either with an ash tail coat and a gun. Also, many people make a nightblade for the royal jelly and have to live with it during most of their time in stratum-5-ship, often including FSC. Also playing in a group, which enhances the eternal orbs' drop rate, buffs their health so that when you (often) split at chared court you will be pitted against zombies with absurd health with (oftenly) a shadow weapon.

My suggestion is: Either nerf them or make them only appear in stratum six in Tier 3.It might be easy for lategamers, but it's horrible for those who is trying to become one.

"DONT DO LIKE A weak WOMAN Just DO MANLY AND COUNTER THEM WHIT CHARGES !"

My guild master is probably very upset now...and me too by the way...

Also, the FSC one is easy, and if you have time to wait for very long (veeeeery long) you can exploit it to spawn a love puppy.

Could anyone give tips on how to defeat 8 of them at once them in a I-Am-New-To-Tier-3-And-Don't-Have-The-Money-To-Make-Six-Different-Weapons-And-Gear-For-Every-Single-Circumstance-ish way (HINT: Don't mention specific weapons and gear). And don't involve them damaging themselves. That's not a reliable tactic. Yes I tested it. With Grey Owlite shield. If I hadn't chosen a Maskeraith I would have been dead by then.

Ankung, get rid of rockets by dashing, or by hiding behind other turrets/enemies, forcing the missles to blow up early. Other than that, just hope you can nuke each one at a time without alerting all of them.

Don't go into the final round of an Arena and you won't have this problem.

SHUT UP PUPPY!

I love to say that My Iron Slug takes care of them without harm, But the most I can take without harm is 4. 2 if there are 4+ other creatures, And less depending on how dangerous they are. This is solo, 3+ Knights and I have to use both shots to make puppies shut up, making the most I can take become 1.

That is a rather large problem. And I still wanna point out that OOO seems to be distracted with other projects. Still.

Ok, I'll line you up, Dracyos, then Hexzyle, Tsubasa, Debrak.

^My title^

Actually, that's a pretty good plan, using enemies as a meatshield. Currently your option 2 is what I'm doing. It only works if I'm prepared. Often, I'm not.

I still have this problem, I never go into the final room of an Iron Edge arena of gremlin or construct arena (probably because I've never been in one...), but I still get them at the Clockwork Tunnels - Mechanized Mile and (especially) Gremlin Grounds. This tactic is very common for me when I play the Fiendish Frays or Cadarvous Clashes, because there be greavers.
Wait a second, before I go on to answering the next person, did you just answer yourself? Now to the next one...

Did you even answer me? ( Why do I sound so agressive?) In case you did, I asked for a no-specific-weapon-tips. In case you didn't, sorry for sounding extreamly rude (actually, sorry for sounding rude to all of you, even if you didn't answer me(smeg...that sounded better in my head) errr....I mean even if you didn't mean to answer my question) and sorry for wasting your time.

Oh, it's every single time I have to go to gremlin grounds (they've got a wicked habit of replacing every normal gun puppy in there with rocket puppies) or arenas (especially gremlin, especially Iron Edge) or any clockwork tunnel involving normal gun puppies. Firestorm Citadel? Naah, I've got a maskeraith, and another tip on how to deal with it.

Check the date stamps and you'll see why.

I don't think I've ever encountered two Rocket Puppies simultaneously that weren't in the 3rd bout of an arena. Mind getting a screenshot of the module that this occurs in?

Sure, whenever I find one.

Sure, whenever I find one. They often appear in the part with four gun puppies at once, therefore, I'm often more encouraged for the next level since they contain no turrets.

Now I'm offended (AshTail+Blazebrand).

Ankung - "I don't think I could do any of the Trojans either with an ash tail coat and a gun."
I did. Blazebrand only. Am I speshul? :ͻ

(of course, after that Vana laughed in my face and sent me home...)

But yes, RPuppies are hard :c I always try to kill'em as soon as they spawn.

No secrets. Just spend a lot of time playing the game, and you'll learn when you can walk through traps and bullets, and to always have your shield up when you're in a risky situation and don't need to move around a lot.

@Hexzyle

We both know armor is only moderately useful in this game. As you yourself have said, either avoid being hit or block the damage with your shield.
Thus an attack that's BOTH hard-hitting enough to break the shield in a couple of hits AND homing in on you is a pain in the rear plate at least, and major OP at worst. Making the rocket circle you is only relatively easy when you're alone in a room, which is not often.

When I said walk through traps and bullets, I mean walk through traps and bullets without taking damage at all.
Rockets can be swatted out of the sky with a blast bomb or a sword, and making a rocket circle you is easy as long as you're not in a combo. Most guns will allow you to quickly deal with rocket puppies without risk of being caught by roaming monsters. Moving in a circle is enough to confound current-day monsters anyway. Additionally, if you know how to tank, you can take rockets to the face with little worry. This is assuming you're not close to the puppy.

Most swordsmen will be ontop of a rocket puppy before it even fires its second or third round, dishing enough damage to keep it interrupted.
Gunslingers and Bombers can waltz in a circle causing both melee mobs and rockets to miss, all while attacking the puppy.

If you can't handle the stronger monsters on elite, then you probably shouldn't be playing on elite.

If they did so the rockets blew up when hitting a mob or hitting a block I'd be happy with just that.
The way they're now is just insane.
