I have dread venom striker (and two trinkets that speed it up).
I wanna go to FSC, and dont know do i really need leviafan blade or divine avenger, or speeded up dread venom striker is still good? (I like fast weapons, and dont really want slower ones.)
Dread Venom Striker vs Vanaduke
I love the cutter line.
That said, I generally don't bring my vile striker to FSC. I have in the past because it is usually my default sword, but I don't prefer it any more.
The VS and DVS have a couple of drawbacks. The first is that it lacks a broad sweeping range. The nice thing about the 2 and 3 swing swords is that they have a wider arc. There are a lot of times where a dozen or more slags are spawned at once. The more you can hit with one swing, the easier life tends to be. Cutter line also has to be a lot closer to hit the mob than the heavier swords, giving you a bit more breathing room.
The second drawback is knockback, or lack thereof. If I hit a slag with my avenger while it's charging an attack, the knockback is far enough that the slag swings at air and misses, and I don't have to shield most of the time. It's especially helpful when knocking away many at a time. However, if you're talented with knowing when to shield cancel a combo you can bump the slag away and have the same result, but it can be tricky when there are a bunch of skeletons in your face. I recommend bringing the strongest shield you have, so you can last without your shield bursting after one or two skeleton hits.
For Vana himself, it's more of a gun fight. Cutter series has such a short reach, I imagine it would be difficult. And the orbs around him in phases 3 and 5 make swords in general almost impossible to use. I think it would work well for the mask on phases 2 and 4, provided you can dodge the bullets well enough to stay close.
Bring a Levi/DA for the levels, and DVS with a non-Shadow gun to Vanaduke. If you only have two weapon slots, bring a DA and non-Shadow gun.
Get a Vanaduke. It's better than the dread venom.
I would say get two sword damage trinkets since you do more slashes that the 2 and 3 swing swords so your DPS will be higher. The sword is fast enough and I prefer not to go through the entire combo since the last swing moves you forward.
@Tesakoff- "Get a Vanaduke. It's better than the dread venom."
Having Vanaduke follow you around has its advantages- he kills just about anything that gets near you, and you won't have to do anything but shield, but this also means that you'll have to worry about tight corridors, where he will have a tough time getting through. The crafting cost on a Vanaduke is enormous as well, and he freaks out when he sees himself in FSC (on top of being not very effective due to fire on the slags). Its also a drag when he bumps into the switches when doing the Roarmulus Twins.
haha lol fehzor^^
oh and btw, wtf is "a" vanaduke?
Dread Venom Striker does fine against Vanaduke when you can reach him with your sword. In phases 1, 2, and 4 are the only phases that you can easily approach him with a sword. You can still use a sword in phase 3, but it is easier with a gun because you do not need to get rid of the fireballs around him. These fireballs will regenerate. In phase 5, it is still doable, but it is much harder since he has two layers of fireballs around him. It is very painful to keep his shield down. Therefore, I recommend you to bring a gun.
As for FSC, there will be many trojans and zombies. If you have no problem fighting hordes of zombies with a Dread Venom Striker, you will do fine with it.
It depends on your skill with the Dread Venom Striker. I bring my Vile Striker to FSC, but it is accompanied by a Divine Avenger and a gun for Vanaduke. I only use my Vile Striker in the Vanaduke fight. It is so much easier to kill hordes of zombies with a Divine Avenger than a Vile Striker.
