Very quickly, I've been playing the game for about 3 and a half weeks...at some point in the 1st week I realised I could buy ce from the market with my crowns, back then, it cost like 5k to buy 100ce. Now (haven't checked today yet) it's coming up to almost 6k! I don't pretend to understand 'fine' economics, but it seems to me that things are only going to worse, and by that I mean more and more expensive, why? Because the longer the game goes on, the further into it the 'noob' players will get, and there will be a greater demand for energy, and as such, prices will increase, that much is obvious, but the way the prices have been going up suggests to me that in about a months time, energy could end up costing almost 7-8k!! My question is, who really is controlling the market? If it is indeed the 'players', what player has the ultimate say about when prices go up, and when they go down? Because in three weeks[ish], the price has almost gone up by 1k and players seem to be fixed on buying energy at around 5.8k, which isn't a huge amount of money of course, but when players who sell their ce start demanding over 6k because of market prices, it just screams inflation.
Question about the in game economy
the avg yield (of avg player) of Cr/100 CE into the Clockworks + value of time + value of materials should determine what the FAIR price will gravitate towards. if the offer is below this number, it will slowly rise until it matches; so it would be BREAKEVEN. if the offer is above this number, people would slowly stop playing and demand for CE would decline as well as the price until it reaches the BREAKEVEN point.
complaining and whining that you want OOO or other players to give you a discount so you can maximize your fun and minimize your cost is naive, selfish, and unproductive.
you want to be the white knight and make energy prices cheap for everybody? keep dumping CE onto the market at the price you want people to sell it to you for. when the market has bought up all your cheap CE, spend some real $ and dump more CE at that price. keep dumping until there is an abundance of CE for everyone.
To answer your question, Leaf, the players control the market. Not one player, but all players who buy and sell CE.
CE is worth however many crowns someone is willing to pay for it. If you are selling 100CE and I will pay 5000 for it, but someone else will pay 5500 for it, who will you sell to?
The price will stop going up when people stop buying it at that price.
If everyone decided to not pay over 5500 for CE, prices would drop to 5500.
Hopefully this answered your question and spawned new ones for you to ask.
The CE <-> cr exchange rate is affected by and only by the prices set by the players. Supply and demand, as it were. If the number of players selling energy goes up and people who want it decrease, the price of CE for crowns falls, and vice versa. Various events do have effects on the prices -- just like stocks are affected by events in the real world -- but overall the market rises and falls by control of the players only.
Also, disregard eocron. He's being a complete idiot. He does not understand any of the above, and whenever someone tells him to stop complaining, he accuses them of having it easy because they're sitting on a fat wallet. I'm a F2P player and I've been playing for a few months; I have 5 star gear, but there are lots of things I'd still like to get. I get lots of money and go broke over and over getting my gear, and I'm fine with it.
Eocron, you still CAN make a profit in T2. You have three options right now:
1) Play through T2 and use the crowns and sale of the materials to get more CE. You can play as long as you want this way but you won't make enough money.
2) Play with mist only. You will make a lot more money but you won't be able to play as long as you want.
3) Purchase CE with real cash. You won't be playing for free, but it will make your progression easier, and you'll have plenty of energy to spend on levels.
If you ARE NOT WILLING to do any of the above, then too freaking bad. No one wants to hear you complain because your complaints are unfounded, especially while CE is still <6k or roughly there. And I swear if you try handwaving this and dismissing it by calling me some rich player sitting on mountains of crowns, I will reach through the internet and slap you.
As i see players can control speed of INCREASE of cost.....ofcourse if about 10000 of people will be off - its decrase about 200cr.....and next day it will increase for 400 ^_^. Nice future.
eocron:
First of all, stick to words you know the meaning of. Using big words like "inflation" won't get you anywhere, if you have no idea what they mean. Just cause someone you admire used it, doesn't mean you can just squeeze it in everywhere.
Secondly, CE has the price it has 'cause silly kids like yourself can't even cough up 4 dollars every month. If you did, along with all the other club penguin players, the CE prices would go down.
Finally, if the game is pointless to play if you can't buy shiny stuff; why even bother playing? It's a game, and as such it's meant to amuse. It's not meant to be a substitute for your lacking advancement in real life. If you can't even do that, feel free to leave.
Yes. Inflation is come and game become more stupid -_- You can play in it just for 1 hour (in dungeon) without stupid donats and laggin arenas......
All we can do - leave this game until economic in it will be controlable for ALL, not for Father and Granpa of that server who have millions in theyr bags and buy all energy then sell it much more expensive....
One word, economic in this game - piece of somethin crappy
