Uh

A file is missing, you need to get it.
Simply reinstalling should fix it if you don't want to think much about it.

i re-installed it 3 times

i re-installed it 3 times this morning. Everytime i run it, same thing appears. Then i check integrity of game files, and theres always something missing (a different number of files everytime). So i re-install. Rinse and repeat. Now im stuck.

Well, that seems like a problem with your computer. You shouldn't get missing files at all after a clean install.
Could be a virus (do those still exist?) / faulty hard drive / lack of space in the drive / etc etc etc
Go and investigate why those files disappear~

Look at the getdown.txt file.

Look at the getdown.txt file. If its garbage, it means steam is encrypting files again (just got them to fix it a few days ago). Post in the tech support forums, and we'll wing it from there.

yep. It is basically garbage.

yep. It is basically garbage. So is my digest.txt. I've searched old posts and seen hw you helped another poor soul, but i tried your method of replacing both with the ones at the download websites yet it didnt work.

So ima do what u said, moving it back to tech support forum!
Wing it guys :P

Cuz those links are pointing

Cuz those links are pointing to an older version of the files. Every update theres a new ver number, which makes up part of the links used to find files by the patcher.

You can use http://proxify.com/ to bypass whatever stupidity prevents the launcher from working normally on your network, and grab the files through it.

I'm starting to suspect that the devs are pushing updates through Steam, and steam is screwing up the deployment. Stuff like this always happens on a patch day, and its a complete pain in the ass to back it out once the files get messed up.

Best option right now is to transfer the game files from the standalone or web launch into the Steam SK folder. Since Steam isn't blocking the game from executing, you should be ok with this.

Web launch - http://www.spiralknights.com/play.xhtml
Default storage for the web launcher is C:\Users\(user)\AppData\LocalLow\spiral\
Default for steam is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\spiral knights

Note that there is a "java_vm" folder in the steam SK folder. That is what it uses to run the game, so make sure you leave that folder alone and delete everything else.

When you copy/paste files

When you copy/paste files into folder that has files with the same names at both the source and destination, windows will ask what you want do with them. Just to avoid confusion for both you and the OS, its easier to clear the target area first.
