Anyone else try the pain-in-the-ass undertaking that is dauntless delver by yourself? I gave it a shot last night got down to floor 16 (not that impressive) before I was too tired to continue. Anyone else had any luck doing it solo?
Dauntless Delver Soloing
it sounds like it'd be a huge pain. SK is fun, but for me I can only take it in limited doses. I probably won't ever get the achievement, I really don't have an incentive to. I don't think I could go 4 hours straight of hack and slashing and dropping bombs without getting bored. :\
Dauntless Delver was a lot more possible back when not every gate had a boss strata. Just going to throw that out there.
Snarbolax and Roarmulus are two of the easiest levels in the game.
I soloed to D23 when I did mine... did every danger room and arena along the way too :D Picked up a random party there for the last stratum because I was getting quite tired and didn't want all the aggro. I did avoid fiends though, everything else was fair game.
You have to find a gate that has no tier 2 or 3 boss, and hopefully not too many devilites in stratum 6. I solo'd tier 1 and 2, party'd thru stratum 5, then solo'd home by skipping 3rd rooms of arenas in tier 3, and basically running as fast as i could thru level 28. And, yes, it was very tiring.
I solo'd mine during last month's Power Surge. If memory serves, Snarbolax's gate had fiends in Stratum 6 so I opted for Roarmulus' gate instead. Hoarded 3 pills of each size, plus Stun Vials as an emergency escape option (if you pull it out while you're surrounded, the next attack knocks it out of your hands and it will splash onto the floor, inflicting considerable knockback on all enemies in splash range). Had some close calls due to the increased latency during the Power Surge (due to higher traffic), but I made it through alive. It felt odd, skipping danger rooms and avoiding arenas.
I believe I did this wearing the Ash Tail set in Tier 3. 4-star armor. Stratum 6 was... Slimes, I think.
Just speed run it. Don't kill anything unless you have to, and run straight for the elevator. You'll git 'er done in under an hour and a half.
It was power surge weekend, and I had received T3 clearance the Thursday before with the Mighty Cobalt set, an Ascended Calibur, and a Master Blaster. Fortunately, for the Snarbolax gate, depth 28 was a Deconstruction Zone, depth 27 was a poison themed construct arena (my AC has a low dmg bonus vs. construct), depth 26 was a graveyard, depths 25, 24, and 22 were Jigsaw Valley (I waited until they were "II"s, as those are easier), and depth 19 was a Deconstruction Zone. T2 was easy, was I'd been spamming T2 runs the month before (that was when any T2 run would gain you more CE than you spent). Haven't seen a gate as easy since.
I think I did this about 2 months ago in 4 star gear. It was probably the Snarby dungeon, and stratum 5 was mostly Jigsaw Valley and stratum 6 was beasts. This was back when Jigsaw Valley still had a lot of slimes (Perimeter Promenade was SO FAST), and you didn't have the "monsters can hurt you just by charging an attack" thing which I often see now.
As for doing it now, yes the RT and Snarbolax dungeons would be pretty key, unless you're a bomber, in which case you can do JK as well with premade teammates. Collect consumables which still hold their value in lower tiers (pills, remedies, mecha knights). Avoid the last arena and danger rooms. Shield often, use pills whenever you can get the full healing out of it.
I did it through a JK gate with fiends in 6th strata. Did all the danger rooms/waited for arenas too (although I did skip one decon level just because I could) Didn't get the achivement though because it was bugged at the time. ..
LOL
I solo'd it . Wasn't so bad, I did it in the snarby gate, no way was I taking on JK or Vana solo, just not worth the risk of redo-ing 30 lvls or so. But yea long and drawn out, but getting the two 0 - 29 achievements at once was definitely worth it, and now I never have to do it again :)
I got it merely because Stompt was carrying me.
Me and someone else tackled it one night together. He died on floor 23 and dropped out afterward leaving me to finish alone :/
I was pretty stunned i completed it, but only cause the game lags a strong 2-3 seconds for me once every 2-4 floors and it happens when monsters spawn in (mean it really sucks). I honestly thought the games lag would prevent me from ever doing this, so i was happy to knock it out :)
Solo Dauntless delver is actually a lot easier than with a party. All monsters have decreased health and so long as you aren't taking unnecessary risks it's quite safe.
Bring a sword and a gun. In all honesty that's all you really will need. And save all the forms of the pills. Using the ones that are for your current tier and save curse vials. Mainly for turrets that can be annoying, they kill themselves and allow you a bit of breathing room.
Good luck! It'll be a cinch if you just try it.
I got my dauntless delver by soloing... of course I "cheated" by picking the right gate and the right levels on each depth. it felt kind of cheap to not do all three parts of the T3 arenas, maybe I'll try it again sometime, but after 4 hours, you get tired.
