This will be a quite long post.
I was strolling through the forums, and this page (http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/2191#comment-13373) gave me an idea. As said there, The only artifact until now that exists (the medal from beta testing) functions as a "fisical" achievment setting, so, why not actually make it as an actual achievment propierty?
-Artifacts Achievments:
They would function like achievments in any other games: you do it, you gain it, but in the form of an item. Let's say, your first time killing the royal jelly king (everyone in the party get's it), or the first time you get a full tier 3, and a full tier 5 set of equips, and, to top it up, maybe random achievments that can contain references to other known facts, games, series, movies, animes, and etcetera, like gaining an artifact after using a full wolver set in a wolver level, that can be called "Mark of the alpha wolver". Also, it would be fun to have them to show how skillfull and completist you arein the game, and could function as a brute quest systems for those that love it.
-Artifact Slots:
So, we would have a lot of artifacts doing this, but no way to actually prove it to other players. You can go saying that you have the "Vog's Teeth Tribal Necklace" to everyone, but few would believe it, mailny if you like to use the proto armor as your visual armor. So, to prove it to the people, everyone would have a single equip spot, where people could equip the artifact to shou it to the people, as a visual change in the avatar of the player. Examples: Equiping the medal get through beta testing would put a big 'beta' in the chest and/or back of the player's armor, or even a cape with a 'beta' being hold by a beta pin in the front; Vog's necklace would be a burning red necklace with big fangs on it, maybe topping up and giving a red aura to the player; Mark of the alpha wolver would give an aplha wolver pelt cape (similar to barbarians and beserker capes in may other medieval games); The jelly king royal seal would encrust some parts of the player armor with a royal tone of jelly pink, topped up with pink aura; and many other visual features, varying from awessomness depending on the dificulty of the chalenges (maybe, in some chalenges, make a poll votation to see what is the best look for upcomming achievs).
My post finishes here, after this, are just some other examples i will get out of my mind, so, read it only if you want, to your heart's content.
--Examples:
-'Status effect' mark: Gained after inflicting a certain status effect a certain number of times (one mark for every status). When equipped, from time to time, the player will have a false spasm of the status, letting a visual effect similar as if he had the status (by false spasming, i mean that this would not cancel any action the player is doying, and would be visually a spasp only if the player is doying nothing). For example, fire would blast through the player openings of the armor, or he would show the shocked animation that most robots do, and etcetera.
-The Avenger's Cape: Equip an entire set of Angelic equipment + the avenger sword (and a shield, that i don't know if it exists, but need to be holly), and finish a zombie level with it. The cape would finish the angel set, giving a more knightly look the armor.
-Fallen Angel's Wings: Equip an entire set of angelic equip + the cursed sword (forgot the name, but is the one considered the opposite as the avenger) + the Avenger's cape, and finish any level based on "living things" (deviling's, wolvers, jellys, or goblins). The wings would be black, and falling appart, looking like an angel wing, but teared apart, and damaged a lot. Also, it would giva a special black aura and collor to the angel armor.
-Tortodrone Shell Pendant: Beat a tortodrone. You need to give the last attack to the tortodrone, or solo it all. It would be a pendant with a small green/gray shell on it.
-Tier X Mist generator: Get a full Tier maxed equipment (3 generators, 1, 3, and 5 stars, all at max heat level). While equiped, the character would let out a mist trail, with intensity and color based on the tier generator used. Apart from the name, it would not influence in anything in the actual mist generating system (the generator consumes any mist generated by it to produce the visual effect, to be more lore-like).
-Bomber Men-ace: Reference 1 >_<. Equip at least 2 bombs and finish a level (to be more dificult, you can put here tier 2 only level, or upgrade the ace to have more looks as you complete the achiev in more dificult levels). The basic look would be a top-knot with a colored point based on your character's color, but can be completed with a circular aura in the hands too.
-Fast Hedge Boots: Reference 2. Finish a certain, special level, created for this purpose only, in a determined amount of time. The boost would change the colors of the ffet of the player to red and white, maybe with little wells at the back.
-Strange Golde Triangular Symbol: Reference 3. Drop 3 triangular itens through the game, that will work as tokens, and go to the token vendor. everyone can have only 1 of these per character, 1 in each character, and, when you have all 3 on the same character (3 different parts), then the token vendor will have the option off selling the artifact. After dropping the somewhat rare tokens, these same tokens would get to 0% chance of dropping to you, and, even if another party player get's them, you will not get a copy.
Have fun, knights.
