Need Advice - To use or sell this Autogun?
Hi, I'm fairly new to SK, but followed Chocobo's New Player guide, and got my 2-star equipment and got into Tier 2 fairly quickly.
Now I have a question. I bought an Autogun recipe, and on my first go at making one, I got lucky and got a UV: High damage vs. Undead. I know you can get more UVs on an item, but High dmg vs X seems to be pretty rare. I looked in the AH and saw someone selling one exactly the same, and at that point the bidding was at 20k Crowns, and they had a Buy It Now of 65k. Today I checked and it was gone, so I'm not sure what they got for it, but I know it was at least 20k (could it have been close to 65k?).
My question is, should I sell this for the money, or use it (I know once I equip it, it's bound to me and I can't sell it anymore). Right now, I'm new enough to where 65k, or even 20k+ crowns sounds like a lot to me. OTOH, if someone is willing to pay that much for it, it must be pretty useful. But I'm not experienced enough to decide what my overall equipment strategy will be, so I don't know if I'll really utilize this to its full potential.
I guess another question is, since I know it would be really good vs Undead, if I did decide to keep it, how do I make sure I play a lot of Undead levels? Just checking the different gates is still a bit confusing to me, and I'm not sure how to tell what type of enemy to expect in each level.
Anyway, thanks for any advice.

Graveyards can come up anytime. :D
Whether you keep it is up to you. If you need a huge amount of money now, you can sell it.
If you should keep it, it will make a good weapon. Undead aren't strong against piercing. I guess you can say upgrading that gun to a Needle Shot or better... is like having a weapon that's good against wolves, fiends AND undead.
As you've seen, people would pay quite a bit for it, but if you sell it, the chances of having something like that again are very slim.
The only problem with keeping it, is that the autogun series doesn't suit everyones play style. What you need to find out is if you can work with it before you bind it to you. My suggestion, is that some day you craft another autogun which probably won't have any uv and have a play with it. Give it a good work out and see if you can adapt to it and if you like it.
If you find that you don't like autoguns, you can still sell the uv one for good money, so you aren't stuck with something you'd rather sell. Worst case you have a gun you don't like in your arsenal that cost next to nothing to make (if you use mist energy). If you do like autoguns, this isn't a problem as there are 3 branchs to the autogun series (I'd suggest that the high uv one goes down either the needle shot or toxic needle route and maybe the other down the pepperbox route but that's another discussion entirely)

Blitz needles are quite amazing on Vanaduke, which just so happens to be preceded by quite a few levels covered in undead zombies, which your autoguns will own. I'd personally make it into a blitz needle, though you could go with the poison one. If you sell it for 20-65K, you'd be able to get enough weapons and recipes and ce to get quite a ways into T2, but then you'd have to spend even more cash on a weapon or two to fight off vanaduke with.
In other words, you have one of the best end game items there is. However, it won't serve you too much purpose until you've put the work into it into becoming one of the piercing items (whatever you do, don't craft it into a pepperbox!), and gotten armor, weapons, and gear to go with it.
My advice to you, is to craft another, and use that for a while in T2. See if you like it first- you can always craft a pepperbox in the far future, and it could save you from ending up with a weapon that you hate, or help you decide that you like it.EDIT: Lol, just read the post above. Derp.
Cool, thanks for the advice everyone.
I might just do what some of you suggested; craft another autogun, see if I like it, and if so, keep the UV one as well, and craft it into a Blitz Needle.
I'm leaning towards keeping it, for the above reasons, that it has potential to be awesome later on, and I may never get one like it again.
Cool, thanks again.

Does Vanaduke himself count as undead? If so then yeah, you have a great item. I don't think he's classified as anything though, so the most useful mod is CTR. Otherwise, I would actually sell it for a good price and use the proceeds to get better equipment. As much as it may be a great item, you will enjoy the game more if you can get into 4*+ gear I think.
A last word of advice though, while Blitz Needle has the ultimate DPS against Vanaduke, it requires a decent amount of finesse to pull off.
I think what Fehzor was saying was that the levels preceding LV are full of Undead, and then the Blitz Needle itself is good against LV himself, which makes it a great gun for that whole part of the game.
For me, the issue will be getting there. It will take a while for me to earn enough wealth to get to where I'm all 4*+. Selling this particular gun will get me there much faster, and then I can worry about getting something similar again.
Oh, BTW, I just checked last night, and the UV is actually Very High vs Undead, so even better. Very High UVs probably see a pretty penny in the market I imagine (I haven't actually seen one in there before).
Dang, I was all set to keep it, but now I'm leaning towards selling it. If I do sell, what's a good AH strategy? Or should I try to avoid AH fees and sell privately?

He isnt listed as anything, but blitz charge attacks show critical damage against him, same as barbarous thorn blade non-charge swing... werid huh? so i guess he's a fiend : O
Only now would you want this to be a plague Needle. Keep it.
