Big shout out to those responsible for SK's music.

I started playing SK during the Steam Summer Camp Event, because I wanted a ticket (for prize drawing). Didn't plan on playing a step further then it would take me to get my hands on a firecracker bomb (purchased very quickly from the AH, thx somebody).
Well, 166+ hrs later... I'm still here. I really think it was the music that hooked me in the beginning. It really brought me back to the video games of the 80's and early 90's that I loved as a kid.

Harry Mack composed the music. If you're a fan of the Spiral Knights OST, we might have something in the works that will make you happy.

interesting....

I have been meaning to say something about this too, but I keep getting hooked into CE screaming matches.
It's the reason I still play the game, and I'm not kidding. I was about to pull the plug shortly after starting, but the sign-in music is so lovely that I decided I wanted to hear the rest of the game music.
Since I'm piled up with money, alts, and gear, I must have changed my mind about something.
I finally joined these forums because i wanted to make a topic like this. =D
There really is no way to describe SK's music that doesn't in some way mean absolutely brilliant. The only thing that could be better than the current soundtrack is the currect soundtrack with more songs. *hinthint* =P
Good god, Nick.
When you said "in the works" I didn't think you meant "imminent release."

So many MMO titles these days have crappy, generic fantasy-esque music. SK's soundtrack is a breath of fresh air. :) I like the boss fight song in particular... that one is just epic.
A friend of mine commented on how the Treasure Vault song was well-made because every part of it is catchy for different reasons-- unlike other memorable songs where there's just one or two good parts and the rest is just building up or playing off of it.
My favorite is the first battle song, for Danger Rooms and Arenas. It blends retro and regular instrumentation in a delightful way, plus it has a fitting intensity for a combat theme. (Which one is that... Encounter Clockwise? Counter-clockwise. I see what you did there.) And, well, as before: each individual part of the song is memorable for its own reasons. I get it stuck in my head a lot.
Our mutual friend loves the victory fanfare after clearing a battlefield, for its retro-ness. Big Final Fantasy fan, as it turns out.

I am completely addicted to the music of this game, lol.
All of it is very well done, I especially like the main theme and the Ice theme. <3
The Treasure Vault music and the login screen music are very nice (for Vaults I turn the sound FX down and the music way up, and I've idled listening to the pretty ambience at the beginning so long I was disconnected for idleness), but my favorite music is the triumphant Mission Complete track, which plays when you go up to the Haven after reaching either subtown or the Core terminal.
Jazzy music in some deconstruction zones ftw
I just took the audio files from the files in my C drive. They're probably more crude and unsorted though..
Currently downloading. I bought it so I can support somebody involved with Spiral Knights in some way.

I'd consider getting it if I could buy it from somewhere besides flippin' iTunes. >>

Totally cool that you can purchase a soundtrack now, and love the cover art! I kinda wish they had did something promotional for buying the full album.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Don't give them any ideas!

I'd really love to buy SK Official Soundtrack but sadly it is unavailable in iTunes Store other then American one (at least not in Polish iTunes Store). iTune Store is really horrible store because it only allows you to buy from national store (indicated by your credit card address), which is extremely backward thinking in case of internet store.
Please make it possible to get SK Soundtrack by other means then iTune Store. I’ve been driving home with BangHowdy soundtrack for ages – it’s time for a change!
The only thing I don't like about the album is that it has neither the Wildwoods nor the Ironclow Factory track.
Other than that, money well spent. :D

coughnextalbumcough

Which will also probably be on iTunes only...

@Nick
Nice! Thanks. Just saw the Soundtrack announcement. Cool to see the game is getting dev kudos as well.

Game definitely needs more of this great mooshic.
So I've got a huge wait until the gate shifts to the level I want. It's three shifts away in T3 so I'm gunna be waiting a while. Sounds terrible, no?
I'm in a treasure vault.
There is seriously no piece of music in this game that isn't amazing. I don't normally care much for bubbly chill-out music like the treasure vault theme but I could listen to it all day. The theme from the final rooms in IMF and Jelly Palace (main_theme in the sound files, don't know its OST name) is particularly awesome as well.
I have to say: Harry Mack, you are a genius.
Man, I LOVE some of the tracks from the game. I've got em on my desktop and mp3 player pulled from the game files.
My favs are the boss music, main theme, treasure vault, whitespace ambient, and the haven song.
The jelly/aurora isles ones are also pretty cool.
They're very zelda/rpg esque in some cases, which is absolutely brilliant.

Thank God, the album can be bought from Amazon as well. *Purchased*
...at least now I know it for the next time they'll release an album.

@Stomponadon
Wish they spawned more kleptolisks. The music fits them epicly.
Same here, the music is great!
It all meshes with the game really well, but they're nice standalone pieces, too.
My favorite track is the Vault music. I don't know why, but it just is.
