Trouble Logging In

I was logged in a few hours ago and now each time I try to login I get to char select and it says "Heading into town..." but that's as far as I get.
also this is happening to a friend of mine as well so its not just me.

As above.
Somehow I believe the problem lies in the fact that due to the new influx of gamers the servers are literally congested to the point where they make Jagex ones look hyperactive, which isn't a compliment.
The whole thing is driving me mad. How am I meant to enjoy the game at the best time when folk are on and energy is (somewhat) cheap when the bloody servers don't let me in?

another friend of mine can
another friend of mine can get on just fine whenever he likes though, and that same person who i trust and know in real life tried my account and could not get on with it at all but his get on first try everytime.

WTB some sort of queue system rather just being biased against people with lesser internet connections?
personally i havent payed any money for the game, but others might have who are having the same problem

I actually get kicked off the game right before this happens ... i can see the loading times increase as the game gets more conjested.
Energy prices going through the roof atm also :(

Also happening....
I was working my way through floors, then the server kicks me shortly after opening an energy gate.
It forever says "heading into town", when i try logging back on. It is to do with congested times as it happened to me yesterday within the same hour
( 8-9 GMT).It's getting to the point where i think whats the point in playing when the game doesn't let you.
This really does need a fix asap.

I mentioned in another thread that the port information on the sticky was slightly out of date: it should be ports 47624-47634 (TCP and UDP), not just port 47624.

Bug report.
Submitted the bug report i actually didn't know you could do it straight from the log in screen.
The weird thing is after trying for hours it's typical, i get logged in when i send the bug report unless you did something with the bug report.

The bug reports don't do
The bug reports don't do instantaneous fixes, they go to a lovely database for the Devs to go through every day.
Windows computers, by default these days, do have a in-built firewall unless you purposely disabled it or installed a security suite program that did something to it.

Kicked straight out.
lasted the whole of about 30 seconds, guess ill have to try tomroro.
if it persists ill have to post a more detailed bug to them.
Ive opened the range of ports on my router as listed above, disabled all firewalls.
Task manager closed all non essential programs.
All drivers up to date.
Everything else on that list is completed including the reg-edit although it should be unneeded considering the specs.
specs:
Windows xp
Java -latest version.
display 1600x900
AMD athlon X64 dual core processor 5000+, MMX, 3DNOW, (2cpu's)
Graphics : Geoforce 6150se (512mb)
1TB storage space.
The only one there remotely close to minimum specs is the graphic memory but its enough.
ill keep persisting to get to the root of the problem.....unless of course it is indeed server sided which i doubt i guess.

going on several days now
Few days ago while playing, my houses power blinked out (fuse blew), naturally I was playing SK during that time. Ever since then, I have been unable to reenter the game, I get the same thing as the rest of you: 'heading into town...' and it does list my location as Haven, but god knows whats actually going on in that server code. I recently submitted a bug report and a request to tech's through the contact us option, hopefully with all us reporting the same problem, they can zero in on our account and server info at the time and determine the common element. Either that or they down right know they're having server issues and have been so busy working on fixing it that they forgot to tell their PR guys to update the rest of us. At least the rest of you have gotten in, I've been stuck outside for awhile now, with a full energy tank.
I guess one does have to establish that this is still opening week for the public game and that problems are bound to happen. And the development staff on this project has done an amazing job with the game... perhaps it wouldnt be remiss to involve a few extra programmers during this time to handle the brunt of the code work.
Ian, the artwork looks great, and you're right about your slime cube enemy. Bos, you do good work man, the environment couldn't be better. Nick, I know you're all overworked, and im not sure how you handle your business with Dan and Mike looking over your shoulder, but keep up the good work man... and if you could assign somebody to look into this issue that'd be great.

i am also getting this problem.
i have well over stated specs (AMD phenom II x4 965, 4GB DDR3 RAM, GTS 250, internet connection is good) and have all the latest drivers for everything.
i have updated to latest java and have opened the ports and added java to firewall exceptions.
i can log in fine, but if i try and do anything on the character selection screen, it seems to hang then kick me back to the log in sceen.
i can log back in but still cannot do anything on the character select screen. i know i can get to the servers since ive played the game once, but cannot understand this problem.
is this known by the developers? is there any fixes or solutions to this problem?
