Hello,

I'm having a trouble with character directions. It can walk everywhere but always focusing in a point. The first time I click in the screen the character looks there but if i click in another place it still looks to that place.

For example, if I click some where in the north, the character will look only at the north, if I click in the south, it will not look anywhere! So, I can walk normally (like a human). If it is looking to north and I press 'S' the character will go back but looking to north.

Please, I need help!

Thankfully

Doug

Move your mouse

Your character looks where your mouse is pointing, WASD moves him around but he will always face where your mouse is, so in order to orient him you should try moving the mouse pointer to where you want to face. If this problem persists then perhaps it is a mouse issue, or some other control issue I don't know about.

Yup...

I have the same exact problem.

The problem is that even if my mouse points somewhere, my character does not follow it.

Okay, uh...

Don't mean to talk down, but I just have to check ....

You guys aren't just "clicking" the ground to move your character, right? You've got to actually hold down the left mouse button to get your character to move. Also, Paska is 100% correct in that your character will always face the direction of your mouse cursor if you move around with the WASD keys rather than the mouse.

Moving your cursor and clicking the ground on a certain spot will do all of nothing. Hold the button down. If all else fails, go into the options and control settings and verify where everything is set to. Click to restore defaults.

Are you playing on a laptop? A lot of them have built in mouses, and Spiral Knights has interesting means of automatically detecting input devices (it automatically detected and configured my gamepad, for example). It may be expecting you to use your laptop's crappy mouse rather than the USB one you've got plugged in, or whatever.

Just some thoughts.

You must click within the

You must click within the game window (If playing in a window) and move the mouse around while keeping it in the game window. If the game doesn't have focus or the mouse is outside the game window then of course it won't work ._.

The other posts are not doing

The other posts are not doing anything wrong. I also have strafe permanently activated, so the character moves but the direction doesn't change.

most annoying, pressing C doesn't do anything, and shift doesn't seem to either. All other keys seem to work fine, as does the mouse.

Then again, I'm running from Ubuntu, maybe some of the other users are running from various Linux flavours, or maybe OSX?

I am also running Ubuntu, and

I am also running Ubuntu, and my character does not look to the mouse. I am moving with the mouse, but it still does not change it's orientation unless I am in chat mode, which is odd. Makes it hard to aim objects to throw. So far I haven't seen any suggestions on how to change this in this thread, just people saying we don't know how to use our mouse! As I said, I am using the mouse to move, my character just doesn't look at the cursor unless I am typing in chat.

Shift and C also do nothing for me, as quartz said. But I didn't know they were supposed to...
