Fang of Vog vs. Combuster
alright, i guess i'll stick with the brandish line then.
if only FoV swung like the cutter line... looks can be deceiving :(
NO! Brandish sucks. My FOV charge can one hit most things in t3. Combusted cannot.
Wait a sec. Has anyone actually confirmed that FoV swings slower than Brandish? The bars claim Combuster has slightly more damage and the same speed, but we all know the bars can lie.
I prefer the DA to both Combuster and FoV, because of the knockback. Melee constructs hit very hard, so I prefer the knockback on the DA to any additional damage the 3-swing swords might offer. The 3-swing swords are better on turrets, but that's what the Polaris line of guns is for.
If you forced me to choose, I'd probably go with Combuster, as I am a very tactical player and make liberal use of charge attacks. The FoV self-fire would really crimp my play style. But I would say FoV is probably more damaging than Combuster in general, because it has a very good chance of inflicting strong fire on regular swings. On a 2-swing unfinished combo, I'd estimate you have a ~33% chance of setting something ablaze, and the 3-swing is probably closer to ~50%.
Did a quick video showing the speed difference with no ASI:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1w3pbgbPDNg
FoV does its combo in about 2.1s
Acheron does its combo in about 1.8s
So FoV's speed is about 16% slower than other 3-swing swords.
Wow, that is...slow, it is just a little bit faster than DA and GF. You'd think that FoV would be fast seeing that it looks like a Cutter on fire.
If only FoV striked like cutter.............................................................. o__o
If only Fang of Vog does NOT look like a DVS or WHB painted orange then set on fire...
Oh well its charge attack compensated for the design. I'm actually happy that them trolljans die faster ever since I got that sword ^^
I think there are threads about FoV vs Combuster so you should do a search before posting. But I am going to tell you anyways.
FoV
Pros
-Able to inflict fire on both the normal attack and the charged attack.
-Has a extremely powerful charged attack (360 degrees and can hit up to 4 times), using the charged attack on Trojans 1 to 2 times and you can say good-bye to them. Using the charged attack on JK means that you can kill him in 18 seconds . Here is proof: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbXoQ8odFb8 (not me in the video).
-Knockback on charge
Cons
-Can inflict fire on the normal attack which means if you use FoV on Oilers, they will be set ablaze and recover health. In large groups of blazing Oilers, you are sure to be dead.
-Slower than most 3-hit swords.
-The charged attack can set you on fire as well as setting monsters on fire. With max Fire resist, you are still going to lose 4-5 bars of health (stat provided by someone else).
-It is the hardest sword ever to obtain.
-Less power than Combuster (the normal attacks).
-Hard to get a UV on.
Combuster
Pros
-More attacking power.
-Far more easier to obtain
-Sets fire only on the charged attack which means you can control when to inflict fire and when not to (like in an arena full of Oilers).
-The charged attack doesn't set yourself on fire.
-It has a explosive charged attack with 2-3 explosions following up to the slash. The explosions can inflict fire like the slash.
-Faster which means more DPS (Damage Per Second).
-Easier to obtain an UV.
Cons
-Doesn't set fire on the normal attack which means that if you want to inflict fire in non-Oiler environment you have to charge and kite.
-Less powerful charged attack (though still quite useful).
From above, I think Combuster is definitely better than FoV.
